Mangalore, Feb 1: The scene at the office premises of 'Karavali Ale' Kannada daily's office speaks of a well-planned attack, aimed at exerting pressure on journalists.
A gang of about 30 persons is said to have been involved in the attack on the newspaper's office on late Wednesday evening. The destruction and devastation proves that it was an organized attempt to muzzle the free press. Computers, partitions, equipment etc. have perished in the incident.
The estimated total loss is put at Rs 10 lac (one million). The police are on the hunt for the culprits.
