Udupi: Accident at Pangala bridge chokes national highway

Udupi, Mar 4: Traffic was choked for several hours on national highway 66 here after a trailer belonging to Suzlon Padubidri rolled off the road at around midnight on Tuesday March 3.

It is learnt that the crane driver lost control at Pangala bridge and the vehilce rolled off the road, with a part of it jutting out on the road, which cause traffic chaos.

The Kaup police arrived at the spot on Wednesday March 4 morning and managed to clear the road.

However, sporadic traffic snarls were witnessed even after police cleared the way.

The driver and cleaner of the trailer suffered minor injuries.


Accidents in Uchila

Also, two accidents were reported in Uchila the same morning, between a car and bike, and a tipper and a bus.

In both accidents, the people involved escaped with minor injuries.

    Pangala bridge area is the place to say mangala to life.Last 50 years I am hearing the accident here. Still we are where we were. Present generation is developed only in scrching the mobile.

    Too long windmill blade. 2X6plus4=16wheeler could not negotiate the curve before bridge.what if it happened over jhatka-matka bridge? Suzlon Govindaaa!!!

    Pangala bridge is a nightmare for vehicles. I feel urgently something must be done about it. May be some speeed breakers and enough warning signs and caution boards must be put there.

    Since my childhood till day am hearing common news ''Accident in Pangala bridge" looks this spot is world's highest accident zone.
    Even though this spot is considered HIGH RISK / FATAL ZONE , No priority to develop this ?
    The parallel new bridge looks last priority to complete in whole NH 66. How can a long vehicle take steep curve? I d't know the reason still Suzlon is responsible to conduct Risk assessment on heavy structure/ load for transportation from their plant to end point.Companies using highways think it is govt property....Any penalty to Suzlon ?

    Just look at that bridge,
    In left hand side they fixed the blocks, but there is no garre, [ fourth picture].
    in this bridge daily more than one lakhs of vehicles are moving.
    Until it will fall , no one will do the Maintenance.

    this place is notorious.. so many accidents here due to steep turn! and specially now , thanks to unfinished work of 6 way Highway , the xtra bridge is also unconstructed... it is a total mess.. thanks to Navayuga's Jagan reddy who was in jail and didnt have funds to finish this entire stretch of highway wideening! congress's 10 year rule was very costly for these twin districts! ... prati onji bridge, Mulky, Suratkal, Pangala, udyavara - poora ardha ardhu maltthd budter, to be accident prone! yeth jeeva povoda, mukulu sudhaarreg/!

    Bridges constructed 100 years ago by British are in better condition than the bridges constructed by Congi Govt.
