Bengaluru, Mar 4: Gunning for chief minister Siddaramaiah, BJP opposition leader in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly Jagadish Shettar expressed full confidence that State Governor Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala would accord sanction for prosecuting the chief minister in the Arkavathy land denotification scam.

"Arkavathy redo scam is a serious issue. We have enough evidence to nail the chief minister," Shettar claimed at a press conference in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

The former chief minister declared that the BJP would not tone down its campaign against Siddaramaiah in the Arkavathy redo scam whether the Governor accepts the BJP’s demand for granting permission for the prosecution or not.

"We have enough evidence to nail him in the Arkavathy redo scam," he said.

Shettar said the BJP backed advocates Nataraj Sharma and Doreraju have filed a complaint before the Justice Kempanna commission of enquiry against the chief minister.

"If the commission issues notice to me, I will depose before the Commission against the chief minister regarding his involvement in redo scam. However party has confident that the Governor may consider advocate’s petition against the chief minister," Shettar replied to a question.

The BJP leader made it clear that the party has not lost interest to pursue Arkavathy case against the chief minister.

"We will definitely take Arkavathy case to its logical end," Shettar declared.

He said Siddaramiah’s involvement in the scam will be proved in any kind of enquiry. If the Governor accords sanction, the case will be more stronger against him, he argued.

The Opposition leader has urged the state government to constitute an expert committee to suggest suitable place to establish Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in the State.

He said the State government can establish IIT anywhere in the State but it has to take immediate decision to suggest the place to Centre to establish IIT.

Shettar urged the State Government not to allow benefits of Akrama-Sakrama scheme to the rich people. Benefits of the scheme should go to poor and middle class. "If rich people are allowed regularisation of their unauthorised constructions, the very purpose of the bill will be defeated," he remarked.

The State Government should also take decision to impose penalty to the builders who responsible for unauthorised constructions in the state, he said.

Shettar requested the State Government to set right the anomalies in implementing Right to Education Act and he also urged the state to take immediate action to tackle drinking water crisis in summer.
