Taylor Swift grants dying fan's last wish

Los Angeles, March 5 (IANS): Taylor Swift granted the last wish of a four-year-old fan who wanted to speak to the singer on the phone.

The star made a surprise FaceTime call to Jalene Salinas on Monday, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

Speaking on the phone with Salinas' mother Jennifer Arriagas, she said of the child, who's suffering from an aggressive form of terminal brain cancer: "I got back from London and I heard about her and it's just unfathomable to have to watch your baby go through this."

According to a USA Today report, Salinas was said to be "in pain" at the time and as a result "didn't talk much", but did say "bye and thank you" to Swift.

Her wish was granted after Swift's fans started a social media campaign to get #ShakeItOffJalene trending on micro-blogging website Twitter.

Following the surprise chat, Arriagas said she was happy to have this wish on her daughter's list "ticked off".
