Bengaluru, Mar 5: Relatives of a deceased patient held protest in front of a private hospital here on Wednesday March 4, alleging that the hospital had claimed treatment charges even after a patient died.
Nagaraju, who was suspected to be suffering from swine flu, had been brought to the city and admitted into a private hospital in Ramamurty Nagar here on February 27. He had been admitted into the intensive care unit of the hospital and bill was prepared towards his treatment. It is said that the patient was billed at the rate of about Rs 30,000 per day.
On Wednesday, Nagaraju, fitted with ventilator, was sent by an ambulance to Rajiv Gandhi Hospital. The doctors there certified at about 1.30 pm that he had died in the morning, the relatives said. They felt that the hospital had kept the death of the patient under wraps, with the specific intention of augmenting its income.
