Puttur, Mar 5: Driver of a tourist car died and six others suffered injuries of various degrees, after a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus hit a tourist car at Polya bend on Mani-Mysuru state highway near Kabaka here. The accident occurred on Wednesday March 4.
The deceased has left behind wife, a son, and two daughters.
It is gathered that the car was moving between Puttur and Vittal in the form of a tourist vehicle. Its driver, Sesappa Gowda (40), a resident of Porlappady in Anilkatte, Vittal, was grievously injured in the accident. He breathed his last when being taken to a hospital in Mangaluru. The six injured were occupants of the car, who have been identified as Rashid, Chandrashekhar, Shakuntala, Bhavana, Lahari, and Harishchandra. All of them were admitted into Puttur hospital for treatment. It is gathered that none of their injuries are life-threatening.
Locals said that the KSRTC bus that was moving towards Vittal from the direction of Puttur was trying to overtake another vehicle, when it hit the car coming from the opposite direction.
A case stands registered in the traffic police station here. Policemen have begun investigation into the accident.
