Mangaluru: Ibrahim Kodijal appointed MUDA chairman

Mangaluru, Mar 5: Dakshina Kannada district Congress Committee ad-hoc president, Ibrahim Kodijal, has been appointed as the chairman of Mangaluru Urban Development Authority (MUDA).

He will be heading the authority at a time when it is set to take up major programmes.

At present, district deputy commissioner, A B Ibrahim, has been officiating as the chairman of MUDA, as the vacancy had remained unfilled.

Ibrahim Kodijal, who joined the Congress in 1969, has served that party in various positions. He also has functioned as director of Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Board. While thanking KPCC president, Dr G Parameshwar, and ministers, MLAs and MLCs from the district for reposing confidence on him, Kodijal said he will resign as ad-hoc president of the party, in which position he has been functioning since the last two years.

Ibrahim will take over charge on Friday March 6, it is gathered. His tenure will be of 18 months or till further instructions from the government.

 

Udupi: Janardhan Thonse takes charge as UUDA chairman

Janardhan Thonse who was appointed chairman of Udupi Urban Development Authority (UUDA) by the government of Karnataka on Saturday, February 28, took charge of his office here on Wednesday, March 4.

Janardhan Thonse, speaking after assuming the charge, said, "I will make the urban development authority a place free from corruption. All applications will be dealt with in a timely manner without any delay. Poor and landless will be given preference in all policy matters."

Pramod Madhwaraj said, "All these Akrama-Sakrama and land related problems have come because of the BJP government. The present government is correcting those mistakes."

Janardhan Thonse’s service for the Kallianpur locality was well known. He is a former zilla panchayat member of Kallianpur, and served as president of Kallianpur panchayat for three termss, and as telephone advisory member of former undivided DK district, former Mandal Panchayat member, present general secretary of Udupi district Congress committee and member of several organizations. He has been an active member of the Congress party for four decades.

Udupi MLA Pramod Madhwaraj, commissioner Manjunathaiah, CMC president Yuvaraj, vice-president Amrithakrishnamurthy, ZP members and CMC members were present during occasion.

    Would like to Know what the chair man of Coastal Development authority is doing.. When the Prvs govt was there a loser MLA was given the post, who simply used the facility. Currently its been given to the son of a prominent lady congress politician.. I wish we could scrap Coastal Development authority

    Whoever comes as head of government bodies will never do any work. I want to ask Karnataka govt why specific roads are given to PWD, Taluk Panchayat, Highways etc. Development is only for 1&3.Taluk or Zilla Panchayat roads will be most neglected ...To be continued
