Mangaluru: Bus hits two vehicles in bid to overtake at Kolnad

Mangaluru, Mar 5: An speeding bus collided head-on into a tempo and smashed into another mini lorry carrying gas cylinders at Kolnad in Mulky limits here on Thursday March 5.

At least three persons sustained serious injuries in the accident.

The accident occured when a speeding Vishal Travels bus plying from Karkala to Mangaluru tried to overtake another vehicle and rammed into an oncoming tempo, before hitting a mini lorry carrying gas cylinders.

The drivers of the bus and the tempo, and a lady passenger who was in the bus sustained critical injuries. Their identities are not yet known.

A few other passengers in the bus sustained minor injuries.

The injured were rushed to hospital.

A crowd gathered at the spot and traffic was choked for sometime.

    we should not depend everything on govt and wait for them to take action always, if bus is in a speed over its limit we the people should oppose it directly by thrashing the drivers out of the bus. these drivers have an attitude that they are driving a huge vehicle and all the small vehicles should give them away which people should stop. if one person opposes its not that all others keep seeing the picture , we all should support that person

    Passengers should be alert while travelling in the bus if the driver over speed the vehicle they has to call the police immediately.Only by doing this we can save the life of innocent people.

    now too many accidents are going on... these accidents not only because of speed but also that we don't have proper transport construction.... so government should take seriousness towards these constructions... we want more flyovers, two way, and also Govt should impose speed lock for service buses.(60kph)......

    Even passengers in a bus should wear helmets. It's not over speed is super speed. No sense how to drive and what is the ideal speed.

    The Central and state govt. must make a law saying that "The compensation to the dead in crores and full medical expenses in a hospital of injured choice must be borne by the bus owner" This will help in reducing bus accidents of reckless driving because owners will be careful in ing drivers for their bus.

    Do not feel Sorry for Bus Driver. Be happy that one more is off the road. Also a killer,Vishal Bus is off the road too.
    I am sure many of you have seen this bus speeding. Sometimes I prayed that this bus will be off the road. Finally it is off the road.
    I just want to ask a question to
    everyone. At what time RTO office closes? your guess is by 6 pm. But go close to RT office somewhere around 7.30 pm. You will see a man shuffling papers in and out with 2 person waiting outside. What is He doing is questionable. Some hand rubbing is going on. I wanted to take photo but I was afraid.
    This is the very same reasons why we are having so many vehicle deaths. Paying RS.500 fine clears the driver to drive again andm kill the next one.

    Getting all private buses off the road is the need of the hour. We need more govt buses on Mangalore-Udupi-Manipal and Mangalore-Moodbidri-Karkala highways. I wonder how many deaths will it take for the Transport authorities to wake up from their slumber. Week-long 'road safety week' drama ain't gonna do it folks! We need some action.

    It is a common sight ... buses trying to overtake other buses to ensure that they get the passengers.Thew drivers seem not to care for life and property. This appears to be a case of reckless driving.

    It is not only the speed that is killing people. The highway construction company also has equal responsibilities. Inspite of the lapse of many deadlines still the work is going on. And the routes will be diverted from one way to two ways every now and then which is really confusing people. Being a regular traveller in this route it is great difficult to find which way is blocked on a day. Politicians are least bothered about this. We have to criticise our elected representatives for their in-activeness and irresponsibility.

    very bad.Atleast we must say till now there were no deaths in this accident.Are Drivers driven to drive fast from their employer to save time and more passengers?otherwise why drivers are so senseless flying?and putting other innocent People in danger?I have a idea,since govt.doesnt bother to punish such acts,why cant passengers self take the case in Hand?when one sees Driver is flying or overtaking reckless ,putting lives in danger,why dont passenger selbst threaten him to drive as per rules,not to drive fast?when all passengers in bus get together he may oblige,fearing their thrash.one should try.and save self and accidents,save other lives.or call Police for his bad driving:The owner of bus Services should also honour their Drivers who has shown a good ,without accident driven buses,.That also might bring down their high pressure.

    Twin district administration does not have control over private bus operators. Bus owners association is powerful and also big Mafia. The drivers and conductors workers union is also powerful that no any police of RTO officers can not take actions on this reckless drivers. The other road users like two wheelers, small cars keep loosing their life everyday. Each bus should run on their time if one minute late the next bus driver will fight with other driver (RTO set timings and bus owners association goondas time keepers will stand on each stop) Most of pour political leaders owning fleets of bus and give party fund during elections so they favour these goondas. The owners and driver/conductors are dictating terms to administration. RTO and Police department getting regular hafta they are silent. two weeks back rickshaw owners/drivers association gone on strike against reduction of tarrif. If any public get angry and teach lesson to reckless drivers immediately busses will go off road they have no concerns to public and their life. If any good officers D.C/S.P comes to these districts put strong regulations our leaders will transfer them giving some flimsy reasons / promotions to fool public. Our twin districts are well known for intellectual public but our fate is very bad. Our life is at mercy of god on Mangalore Udupi Highway. Who will bell the cat?

    There is no severe punishment in our country for anything. Criminals and wrong doers are protected by professional lawyers, influential politicians and corrupt officials.

    District/session court, High court, Supreme court, Presidents mercy appeal (OMG). Rapists instead of sending to gallows are allowed to express their views about rape… what is happening ?

    There is no severe punishment in India, that is y such accident happening in our city limits. Drivers will get arrested and same day they will get released by BAIL.

    In India punishments are there only for killing animals. There is no BAIL for the same. In India, there is no value for human being.

    Public is so scared of these drivers and conductors. Even if you complain them on the driving rashness they just ask us to shutup and believe me, no fellow passenger will come to your support.My experience.No use teaching the driver after the accident.

    If the buses are meeting with such kind of accidents in our roads, one can easily imagine how recklessly our drivers are driving the vehicles. In the gulf countries obtaining the driving license is not the easy task and takes years to pass the driving test and if you have a license it is definitely a great achievement. But here license is just few Rupees away. This is the reason our country driving license is not valid in the Gulf. How to control ego need to be learned .Issuing the license is the greatest responsibility of the traffic dept, and it should make sure in every angle the receiver is fit for the reward. Secondly traffic dept should check the fitness of the vehicles especially commercial by renewing their registration yearly. Here the vehicles are going through harsh life because of the weather and road conditions but never maintained or looked after which is the main reason for all these accidents.

    Authorities should book cases against over speeding buses both in side and out side city limits, to control the accidents.

    Presently, they are booking only two wheeler riders without helmets.

    Former saves more people than the later.
