Nalin demands enactment of anti cow slaughter law in state

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Mar 6: Dakshina Kannada member of parliament, Nalin Kumar Kateel, has pressed for enactment of anti cow slaughter law in Karnataka too.

Speaking to media persons at the circuit house here on Thursday March 5, he congratulated the chief minister of Maharashtra for enacting anti cow slaughter legislation. He recalled that when the BJP was ruling Karnataka, it had drafted anti cow slaughter bill, but the governor had sent it to the President for his assent. After Congress government took over, it withdrew the said bill, he said.

'Cows occupy a place of pride from both reliigious angle and agriculture. The government, which wants to give impetus to dairying activity, has taken an opposite stand as far as conservation of cows is concerned,' he said.

He felt that all states including Karnataka should ban cow slaughter.

Cows form the backbone of our rural economy & agriculture...Stealing & butchering them rampantly will effect our overall economy badly....Majority in this country worship cows & its the life giving kamadhenu for us, be it milk, curd, ghee, urine, cow dung, bio gas,medicines....Is there no value for the majority sentiments??...How their sentiments are hurt when what they worship is being openly butchered??... When we all get concerned by the genuinely hurt sentiments of someone when few glasses are broken , is it not time for us to show the same concern towards the majority sentiments when their god is openly killed??....

Sir, Is this a so pressing issue for your region today??? Till now we dont have a government run super specialty Hospital for poor people Nor we do not see any efforts in that direction from anyone. Fight for that. Try to pass stringent laws for these... Think about this, so that we can save our beautiful future children for the country for a better tomorrow. You have poor sanitation facilities in schools, unsafe transportation of school children, unsafe vehicles, untrained drivers etc.. fight for that. You have corruption problems in the state, fight for that. You lose many young Engineers/professionals due to road accidents, work on those and find a solution for the road infrastructure. development.....Let us be fair and work for the betterment of humanity first, rest all will fall in place. It is right we respect the animals, but animals have a shelf life and they need to be recycled appropriately, failing which, there will be environmental/ecological disorders.... Let us understand our priorities first.......... Banning is easy but who will look after the old and dying animals?? how can a poor afford to look after them when they stop yielding produce???

The punishment is based on the value of the injured and killed object.

In many places of India, the punishment of killing a monkey or cow can be far worse than killing human beings. One world famous person in his auto-biography wrote about an instance while driving through Delhi to catch a flight.

The taxi-driver by mistake killed a monkey and he got panicked and started driving the car in high speed. When the passenger questioned his high speed, he replied that if we are caught, we will be bleeding.

As per D.N Jha an eminent historian, most Hindus were beef eaters once upon a time. Cows were used as sacrificial animals. It is not an outside culture as it is projected to be. Whenever i see congregation of hindus in Jathras samajothsava etc, i find Hindus in general are physically weak vis a vis other communities. I want all Hindus to be strong physically. hence i want their intake of good source of protein to be increased which can be provided by cows meat. i am really upset with this MP. In Bangalore where i stay now, there are hotels run by Hindu mallus serving beef to customers. I do not want religious angle or cultural angle to be brought in here. Hindus should encourage beef consumption, AS Doctors and nutrition experts have extolled its health benefits. If the Ban is for the reason that it is cruel to Animals, then it should be applied to Chickens, goats, sheep too.

I cannot keep the count of my comments on DW concerning the poor management of animals, poultry and especially livestock in India.

Beef ban will not only adversely affect beef eaters/dealers but also the world famous Indian leather and related industries, and ultimately the livestock and agriculture sector itself, sooner than one can realize, giving rise for Haftha and other illegal means to BJP and its allies thru illegal beef business.

I would beg Nalin and other proponents of cow slaughter to take nation wide "Padayatra" since these people have proven useless as MPs and what have you, and have no issues of national importance to deal with for the benefit of India.

BEEF BAN in Maharashtra because it hurts my religious sentiment. But my religious sentiments gets hurt only when Indians eat, I have no problem when people from Russian, China and Arab Countries will eat it. Hence I have only banned it in Maharashtra, and however will continue to export to Middle east, China, Russia etc etc.

India one of the largest beef exporting country, one of the biggest U-turn taken by BJP government post 16 May - 2014. They have campaigned Pink revolution (end of beef export) before lok sabha election. However in just 9 months India's beef export has grown by sound 16% post 16 May-2014. So I will continue to export it, because it generates revenue and it did not hurt my religious sentiment as it is eaten by non-Indians.

Beef exports grown up by 16% post 16 May-2014. -source: abp news.

Whenever animals gets slaughtered, its skin goes to a Leather factory. But people who are demanding this ban should stop wearing Leather shoes, belts, purse. In places where people can't kill healthy animals, they injure them, their legs or even poison them, not for Burger King but for Leather.

And also in new budget excise duty has been reduced on leather items, so you can were more leathers-Source : moneycontrol

Sir, already this news of prohibiting beef at the hotels in Mumbai, the financial capital of India has published in many leading news papers including the internationally read " Wall street Journal".

The great paradox is this, the President of India played a role in creating this new rule of law barricading the 30% of the Indian population in their personal right to eat beef. Such a news taking away the eating right of the citizens is never heard from any other country in the world in the modern times. Naleen jee you have other issues to highlight....
Dont make it as a religious debate....I can point ample verses from scriptures and they way they used to sacrifice problem is daiji may not publish it...When you put swami vivekanandas photo on every occasion you must also highlight is opinion of beef eating in ancient India coz some people are saying beef eating was introduced by muslims....
Secondly eventhough abattoirs of beefs are mainly owned by consumers are not mainly muslims you can check it any abattoir...And five star hotels in mumbai are already revolting against government decision of banning beef coz much of the tourist from western countries prefer beef ...This will impact tourism industry...
And the punishment for possessing beef is horrific five years jail just like someone is possessing drugs...even a rape accused M.P in the cabinet will not be prosecuted like that...
Thirdly if someone thinks eating beef reduces bovine population it is a myth...no where in world bovine population has reduced after consuming beef in high quantity ...I think eventhough banning beef may increase cow population for temporary long term it helps in reduction of it...coz no one is rearing cow out of its holiness they expect something in return...cow can be used for milking but it is not a profitable business either...bull has no role to play nowadays in agricultural field what would you do with them...raising the cow which has crossed milking age and bull is a burden for poor farmers...by selling it they may get extra bucks but now by banning they have lost that mean...i.e mean raising a cattle becomes difficult they have to depend only on milk ...when there is too much burden and less profit people may eventually shift from that profession indirectly reducing bovine population...This is other side of banning beef...if there are go ashrams which can accommodate every bull and aged cow in return farmer gets the money ...I would appreciate it...but there is no such facility...
I dont want to go into other side of cow abuse by painful artificial insemination, steroid and hormone injections and their side effects, repeated impregnation for milking and the pain which cow suffers because of it...

Mr Lingappa, its because other party candidates were not good and it doesn't mean that Mr Nalin is capable. Its like 'something is better than nothing' without any option we were forced to vote for him. Now he has proved that he is also good for nothing. Sad to say that we at least have the privilege to vote and u ....????

The Mangalore M.P should give more attention to the development of D.K than this type of matters. What is his contribution
For the development of his Dt.?.let him highlight.

no wonder people call him 'ZERO PERFORMANCE M.P' behind his back.

Instead of bagging big projects for Mangalore...he is indulging in petty politics.

Just compare him to the great MP - Ullal Srinivasa Mallya.

looks like people in May 2014 voted on grounds of religion instead of capability.

Its better to ban slaughter of cow and eating beef.
If ban is live how can anyone will dispose the old and sick cows.
will they kill the sick and old cow or will they look after it as how they look after the aged family members.
to look after the human beings itself is big deal.
then looking after the cows in large number is very difficult.
then only they will realise the help of these slaughter business people.
since they sell old and sick cows to the slaughter house farmer earn money by selling it to them and also can save lot of time and money in terms of the treatment they give.

Mr. Nalin Kumar, please, talk about constructive issues. Most people know you are a big ZERO and nothing can be expected from you as a MP. You got elected becuse of the Modi Wave and the negative vote for the congress. Atleast for the sake of those who voted for you .. please take up the following issues in our City / DK on Top Priority (1) Civic issues - garbage (2) Lack of proper foot paths (3) Incomlete and shoddy Road work (4) Rash driving by private bus = they are killers (5) Scant respect for traffic rules (6) Delay in Shiradi Ghat road work (7) A pair of day superfast trains to connnect Bangalore and Mangalore. Please start now so that before your term ends - there "maybe" some result. Before you take up issue of cow slaughter you may need to make a speech in parliament - so learn basic English and Hindi. Further, please tell your loyal supporters to Stop eating Beef and consuming liqour as in a few years India will also "Go DRY" like Gujarath. Bottom line, Mr. Nalin Kumar - vote bank politics won't get you votes as public memory is short lived. Peole will remember you for the development of the city, that is your core task. Beef eating should be the least of your bothers - there is more to life than such silly gimmicks. Today the voter is totally fed up and let me remind you given the way the BJP is faring, if there is a snap poll I bet my pants BJP will lose the same way as the congress. We need a prosperous Vibrant India.

    Mr MP,

I request you to work on following 2 points to make DK a peacefull place to Live in.

    1) For people who consider cow sacred, try to push a law where it makes compulsory for people to have atleast one cow in their house hold. So the cow polulation will also increase and all those who consider it sacred will have responsibility towards preserving it.
    2) Try to get 1 job creating industry into Mlore before 2020. Work towards it. 2 IT SEZ in DK is languishing because of lack of political will to get more companies here. Talk to IT comapnies in mlore and find out why such a talented place like mlore is not able to attract more companies. Try to implement modis vision of sab ka saath and sab ka vikas. You have spent enough time on unnecessary things. It is high time you made your presence felt and creating more jobs for young and aspirant Mloreans. There is so much of talent here but there is not a single politician at both centre or state level to do justice to this talent in terms of creating career opportunities here.
How unfortunate is DK in having MP's and MLA's who do not understand the wealth of talent that they represent. If they did, DK would have been a role model to the entire country in collective growth. Instead, we are wasting our time on things dont help the country a bit. How unfortunate!

Totally meaningless allegation from these politician.. In the name of religion they make silly matters to big fitnah.. They spoil the environment of peace, they spread hatredness.. How fool these people are to ban just cow slaughtering? why not other animals like buffellos, goat, hen, birds etc., Forget about this all.. By making these crazy rules in our country so many precious human lives we loose.. First of all think about human killing.murders in the name of religion, rapes, moral policing etc., We need to live here peacefully.. But fire fighting situation is there everyday here bcoz of some politicians.

After Maharashtra banned Cow slaughter the Goa is facing acute shortage of Beef and now Goa is mainly depending on our Belagavi district for supply of Beef. If Karnataka also bans Cow slaughter what will happen to Goa's International Tourism Industry?

Banning cow slaughter is not a big issue for Muslims but definitely the business on beef export will be affected since India is one of the biggest beef exporters. So, please ban cow slaughtering throughout the country.

    Woman safety!
Let me remind u in Maharashtra. Rape accused culprit get 2 years jail but if anyone selling beef has to take 5 years in jail. So they only concentrate only cow's not woman's. They want to secure artificial bharath mathe not real.

But, dare not to touch the cow? Five years or more in prison! Which is more valuable? I am indeed totally confused.

Nalin sir, there are much more impt. things to be done other than this. Pls do something towards creating awareness of taking the road accident victims immediately to nearby hospitals without wasting a second / without waiting for 108 vehicles, so that many lives (especially our youth who use 2 wheelers) will be saved. You will be blessed for this.
