Bantwal, Mar 7: It is reported that three persons were stealthily video recording a married woman taking bath at Bolantoor in the taluk on the night of Thursday March 5. When a maid noticed this act and objected to it, a rape attempt was made against her.
A complaint against three persons was registered in Vittal police station in connection with the incident, and one of the accused stands arrested.
It is gathered that a teacher from an outside district was taking bath, when three persons began recording her movements on a cell phone. Hearing some sound, the teacher asked the maid who was outside, to look for the source of the sound.
When the maid approached the trio, they threw a cloth on her and tried to rape her, a complaint filed in Vittal police station explained.
On the basis of the identity of the motor bike of the accused, case was registered under section 354 of Indian Penal Code against Addu alias Naushad, Gooli Shaffi alias Muhammed Shaffi, and Unais Madaka. Out of them, Muhammed Shaffi (30) stands arrested.
On being produced in court, Shaffi was remanded to judicial custody. The police are on the lookout for the other two offenders.
