Bantwal: Police detain three students celebrating birthday in hotel

Mounesh Vishwakarma
Daijiworld Media Network - Bantwal

Bantwal, Mar 7: Following a call from a right-wing outfit, the police on Saturday March 7 detained two girls and a boy belonging to different communities who had been to a hotel at Melkar, Panemangalore, to celebrate a birthday.

The police also called the students' parents and the officials of the hostel where they stay, and released them later after the parents executed a bond.

The girls, both college students, stay in a hostel near Panemangalore. On Saturday morning, they had left from the hostel allegedly without informing the warden or the teachers, and gone to a hotel at Birva centre in Melkar. There they reportedly met a male classmate. The locals saw the three of them having tea in the hotel.

Meanwhile, activists of a right-wing outfit noticed the threesome in the hotel and growing suspicious, they informed the police.

As the news spread, locals began to gather outside the hotel. The police too arrived, and took the three students to the police station after chasing away the crowd.

Bantwal town inspector Nandakumar later said that the students had just visited the hotel, but the problem arose after their presence in the hotel was misconstrued and people began gathering there. The students were let off with a warning, he said.

    Dear readers,

It seems Hotel staff may be loosely associated with the Right wing group.Secondly the police department may be completely saffornised.

That is why in Mangalore we have only one way of development towards fully communalisation.

So as the voters we sow the seed so reap the harvest of saffron fascist in our daily life.

    Jai hind

Congratulations to those who do moral Policing. Today our society is getting corrupt. Anybody can marry anybody. Many have love affairs before marriage itself. Many marriages end up in divorces, separations. Moral policing should be strictly done. Girls and boys belonging to different communities should strictly be not allowed to mingle. Inter caste, inter religious and inter language marriages should also be not allowed.

Mangalore is quite famous for communal violence. This is one of several such incidents which could trigger violence.
Investors are stepping back when it comes it Mangalore, people's minds are getting filled with hatred, several property damages and losses. If this keeping going, then in a span of few years Mangalore would fall backwards in the state and people's income will reduce.
Worst thing would be people moving out of the city to find new homes as they will not be able to find peace in our city.

Besides police should also explain as to why they have not taken action against the Goondas who assaulted the Boy.

Home Minister George people need answers-
What is the duty of the police when mob creates unrest?
Whether girls & boys should not mingle in public places?
What right police have to take bonds from parents when their kids have done nothing wrong?
Why not put do's & don'ts in restaurants & hotels about having tea or lunch with other community people?
A Public Awareness Action & Protest need to get a written reply from police chief about their unlawful actions & they should file cases for hindering people from exercising their Right to Freedom.
Why no violators of freedom were not arrested & cases filed against them for disturbing the public peace?
It seems the Police Mindset is still in BJP era, Siddu needs to take action against erring police officials & should strictly warn them not to hinder peoples freedom.
If these steps are not taken, these things will repeat with impunity & communal clashes will take place if this trend is not nipped in the bud.

The way the supposed moral police has held the boys by his shirt is scary and demonstrate the extent to which the moral police are emboldened to carry out such illegal attacks on the law abiding weak youngsters!! Even consensual cohabitation among adults is perfectly permissible under our laws!!

Repeated such incidents demonstrate these so called moral police appear to be professional moral police, in that, how would anybody be so discreetly spying on the goings on in a locality without any financial rewards, while not being able to do any other work due to the 24x7 moral policing job!!LOL!!

With repeat such incidents DK bring disrepute, and is losing its already lost flavor among outsiders and downgrading its value with other similar cities like Pune, Talegaon, Indore, Ahmedabad, etc. attracting people in hordes!! AS of now, there is hardly any plus point remaining for anyone to set shop here or think of settling down here, which is a big loss to the peace loving common aadmi of DK!! Jai Hind!!

    Dev,

As i have mentioned the sad truth before in my comments that we are not civilised enough. We dont care about others rights and just impose our will on others.

People please oppose such acts by the moral police. Taliban did not come into existence in a single day they imposed restrictions one by one.

In the early last decade I bought up the word talibanisation of mangalore after one moral policing incident. My friend laughed at it and told me it will never happen. But since then the moral police are going strength to strength. If is continues we will have a district with restrictions like taliban imposed in afganistan in around 20 years.

And the other thing is that how can police act against the people`s rights.

Now the goons have to report back to their so called leader how they are practicing the given training. Need of the hour is all should muster courage to treat the virus carriers.

What is wrong about girls and boys meeting in a hotel or any other place of repute and more particularly during day time. It is time that realization dawns on people that in the world that we are living in it is good to have A BROADER OUTLOOK AND NOT TO LOOK DOWN ON YOUNG PEOPLE WITH SUSPICION.

sometimes I ask myself do we have really any Independence to move about without the mixing some particular People in this Business.?when the Girls had gone out without informing warden is not correct.that means not that they met with a Boy of other community in Hotel to drink coffee is not any offendable act.anybody can move about without checking from rightwing guards is no go.where do we go to Stone Age?why does Police not condemn this?these People should mind their own Business. No wonder later Young People just go elsewhere without notice. That should be stopped.let them their freedom.why cant they speak outside to each other?moral policing is gone too far.
