Beltangady: Photographer killed in wall collapse at Koyyur temple

Beltangady, Mar 8: In a tragic incident, a photographer died after a retaining wall collapsed on him at Koyyur Panchadurga Parameshawari temple here early morning on Sunday March 8.

The deceased, Diwakar Acharya (35), a resident of Puttur, was a photographer as well as videographer.

Diwakar was covering the Nagamandala event at the temple. It is learnt that he had kept his camera bag near the retaining wall and when it started raining, he went to fetch the bag. All of a sudden, the wall collapsed and he was buried in the debris.

He was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced brought dead

Diwakar had married about two years ago and has a child.

Beltangady police have registered a case.

    RIP!! Very tragic, unlucky gentleman, an innocent promising photographer lost his life!!

    For such a deep vertical trench a reinforced wall (RCC) should have been built, the pics show that only stones were fixed without even using cement for bonding!!

    Very unfortunate and sad,this incident is due to negligence in civil construction in India,we are not at all following norms and safety while construction,This scenario itself clearly reflects the condition of construction and its poor quality.
    Heartfelt condolences to his family members,let god give them much strength to bear this loss.

    It seems this wall was hurriedly constructed for the ongoing Naga mandala. Therefore it was not of good quality. Proper investigation should be done by police and action should be taken against the concerned people without giving concession on the basis of occasion.

    What a misfortune or tragic incident?

    Timings are like a call of destiny.
    The wall looks like a compound wall rather than a retaining wall.

    Unscientific construction of this compound wall is evident from the remaining portion of the wall.
    Besides from the remaining portion of the wall it seems that the wall is not more than one year old.
