Beltangady, Mar 10: Local MLA, Vasant Bangera, denounced the protest being undertaken by some people under the umbrella of an organization as politically motivated. He was addressing a press conference held here on Saturday.

Bangera explained that road development works between Punjalakatte and Berkala had been sanctioned at a cost of Rs 2.82 crore and that tender process is in progress now. He said that there had been long-pending demand for repair of this road, and that he had followed up the matter and got the needful done.

'I have noted that some people, in the name of an organization, have taken up the initiative to hold protest against this work. The protesters are anti-development. If they do not need this road development, let them say so. There are so many waiting for their roads to be repaired. This fund can be diverted there. This is a politically motivated protest aimed at misleading the people,' he alleged.

Block Congress president, Harish Kumar, was present at the press conference.
