Mangaluru: Abduction of Belagavi student studying in city - complaint filed

Mangaluru, Mar 10: Trupti (17) from Belagavi, studying in second PU class of a college here, has been reportedly abducted. A complaint relating to this incident stands filed in Barke police station here.

The student stays as paying guest in a house near Bhagavati Temple in Kodiyalbail here. She left for college at about 11 am on March 8, and did not return. Her mother, Geetha, who hails from Chikkodi but presently works in a government department in Belavavi, received call from an unidentified person between 4.30 and 5.30 pm on March 8. He introduced himself as Gaja and reportedly told Geetha that he had abducted Trupti, and challenged her to rescue her daughter if possible. Geetha said that the caller also told her that he was not concerned about what action she may or may not take regarding this abduction.

Geetha filed a case in this respect in the police station on Monday March 9 night. It is learnt that Trupti's father is no more alive.

The police have begun investigation into the abduction.
