M'luru: Suresh Shirwadkar appointed deputy chairman of NMPT

Mangaluru, March 10: Suresh P Shirwadkar has been appointed as the deputy chairman of New Mangalore Port Trust by the Ministry of Shipping and he took charge on March 9.

Prior to his present assignment he was working as chief manager (Finance) in Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust. Graduated from St Aloysius College, Mangalore, Shirwadkar is an associate member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He is a native of Ankola in Uttara Kannada District of Karnataka.

Joined the port sector on July 1, 1992 as accounts officer in JNPT he has worked as FA and CAO in Mormugao Port Trust for 8 years. He was instrumental in successful issue of bonds worth Rs.425 crore in 2004 for repayment of World Bank Loan.
