Bantwal, Mar 12: Ikku alias Iqbal, who had abducted a girl from Karopady, Kanyana near Vittal in the taluk, stands arrested. The police, who got information that Iqbal was hiding in an area near his home in Kanyana, raided the spot and succeeded in arresting him on Wednesday March 11.

Iqbal had abducted the minor girl, a student of a college, and taken her to Thiruvananthapuram. There he had stayed in a hotel with this girl, and during their stay there, also raped her, it is said. When police raided the hotel room where the couple stayed, Iqbal was found to have absconded, leaving the girl alone in the room.

The girl, who had left home on the pretext of attending college, had not returned home in the evening. Her parents had filed a missing case, which was converted into abduction after it became clear that the girl, who was a minor, was accompanied by a young man. The policemen, who were tipped off about the presence of the boy and girl from their jurisdiction at a hotel in Thiruvananthapuram, had rushed there. They found only the girl there, as the youth had fled.

The police, who brought the girl here on Monday, had allowed her to join her family after obtaining statement about what transpired during the period of her absence. Iqbal now faces charges under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, and has been produced in court.

I think the girl is equally to be blamed. She lied to her parents saying she's going to college. A teenager beyond 16 knows very well what can transpire if she goes alone out with a boy. Please arrest her as well or spare the boy. Its clear the boy disappeared from the hotel out of fear.

This is a pure case of treachery. Fleeing the place and leaving the girl itself shows his intention that he only wanted to enjoy and not stay with her. Someone here has posted a about law that says what this boy did isn't a crime. But the police have rightly taken it as a rape case as we can clearly understand that the boy misused the girl's innocence and brainwashed her to go with him. breaking the trust is crime which most of them are missing to understand here.

Very sad part is some people in this forum trying to blame the girl. Still people not changed their mind set. For the rapes, kidnaps etc people blaming only the girls which is become the tradition of fundamentalists irrespective of religion. If the girl is belong to their family, their opinion will be the same? Put him behind the bar and book him under the rape case.

I differ with all those who blame the girl or shifting equal responsibility on her.
Legally she is a minor. Even if other wise(i didnt mean illegally) girls of this age are vulnerable and fall easily for emotional manipulation tactics. People like Iqbals are always at a random hunting for such girls.
In this case the girl would have built bollywood influenced dreams of running away with her boyfriend and living happily ever after. If she had doubted about the boys intentions, she wouldn't have taken up this adventure.

And which 'right place' are you talking about?
When he was taking her to Kerala or elsewhere -was she thinking it was for eating.'buguri'?
    Nonsense.

If it was abduction why did not the girl resist and try to escape, instead was comfortably roaming and ensconced in a lodge from where they were apprehended, and she is not so tender in age to not understand, so it appears purely consensual merry making escapade!! After getting caught issue conveniently changed to abduction!! Jai Hind!!

This is not to be considered as a rape case. The girl went with the boy on her own will and stayed with him, had sex on consent, hence classifying this as rape is diluting the real rape cases. In this case both boy and girl shall be punished for having consensual sex without wedlock, provided if there is any section in IPC.The word rape shall be very clearly defined as forcefully engaging in sexual intercourse without consent of the others. The punishment for the rape shall be very high such as life term imprisonment not less than 75 years, so that someone will think 100 times to outrage the modesty of a lady/girl.
Consensual sex should not be considered as a rape.

Consensual sex with minor not a crime, Delhi court says
    TNN | Aug 26, 2013, 12.56AM IST

NEW DELHI: A city court has observed that consensual sex with a girl aged below 18 years does not constitute an offence under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The court said the provisions of POCSO Act suggest that where a physical relationship — which is not in the nature of an assault — takes place with the minor girl's consent and where the consent has not been obtained unlawfully, no offence can be said to have been committed.

Rejecting the plea of the police and Delhi Commission for Women that POCSO Act prohibits minors from having any kind sexual relationship, additional sessions judge Dharmesh Sharma said, "I am afraid if that interpretation is allowed, it would mean that the human body of every individual under 18 years is the property of the state and no individual below 18 years can be allowed to have pleasures associated with one's body." @Akarshad,
I think you are unaware of the whole story.
As far as i understand from the earlier reports on this news portal, this is not the case of forced abduction. The girl fled with the boy on her own will. Since the girl is of under 18, technically it is a case of abduction and rape.
Excuse me if i hurt anyone by providing wrong information unintentionally.
Anyways i personally appreciate for your concern towards the (any) victim in general in rape cases.

    @Sudheer,
For your question, my answer is-Yes. If the girl were to be belonging to my family (or my religion), for sure, my opinion would have been same.
My opinion is not biased by the relationship/religion of accused or victim. Infact i know that the girl belongs to my religion only.

As you said, i never supported the suspect in my comment. .I strongly condemn the act of accused and nevertheless the girl as well since as i am personally against the age limit set for one to be considered as an adult. It must be reduced in some cases at least.

here girl is equally responsible for the crime... boy alone should not be punished. She whole heartedly supported the boy to do the crime,, then why it says the Boy arrested and girl brought back... Both deserve equal punishment

But Cynthia statement says girl has been abducted and raped in hotel..by this boy...who said that she whole hearted supported him..might be..or may be not..teen girls most of the times fall in flowering words of young boys..it doesn't mean that boys should take an advantage. If it's happened to boys sister do he accept.. Or if it's your sister your statement will be remain same..
