Udupi, Mar 12: A photographer who had ordered an expensive camera from an online shopping store received a rude shock when, on opening the package, found a stone instead of a camera inside!

Sharath Kumar, a photographer from Malpe, alleged that he was cheated by Flipkart online shopping site, from where he had purchased the camera.

Sharath had ordered a Canon EOS 60D DSLR camera worth Rs 50,990 with 18-55mm IS II lens and 8 GB memory card on February 28, but when he received the parcel on Thursday March 12 morning, he found a stone inside the box instead of the camera. The weight of the stone is almost the same as that of the camera. By the time he opened the parcel, the courier agent had already left the place. He also said that the full amount of Rs 50,990 was debited from his bank account while placing the order.

Meanwhile, as the news spread, the Flipkart personnel in Udupi treated the incident as a special case and returned the full amount to Sharath the same evening. Sharath said that the personnel told him that it was logistics problem as the shopping portal does not keep stock of products. He said he has no idea how such a thing could happen with a website that has such elaborate tracking system.

Sharath had ordered the camera as he is planning to launch a new studio in Malpe. As Flipkart has returned the full amount, he has decided not to file any complaint.

    Lucky Rs.25000/- plus expenditure...

I have been a avid flipkart customer for the past couple of years and have got the best of service through them. Also it is worrth mentioning that flipkart is just a portal and not the actual supplier. Always goods from suppliers marked as 'Flipkart advantage'as they are verified by Flipkart. Also pay cash on delivery and check the package before payment. They do have that option, I myself have ordered a expensive camera in the past and was allowed to check the contents before payment.

    Gentleman,
Sharath opened the parcel infront of the courier boy. So there was no room for confusion and flipkart guys were caught red handed. Also Flipkart has given Sharath compensation for the huge mess they created. I know this as Sharath is good friend of mine.

FOR ALL THE DOUBTING THOMAS AND COMMENTING WITHOUT PROOF.
    1. Did Sharath K open the parcel after the delivery boy left?
    2. Now even I can order something and after the parcel is delivered to me and the delivery boy leave I will open, hide the stuff ordered and put a stone and click pic and say I got a stone...where is the proof, and then I will make a big noise and get my full money back?
These days people are all set to spoil the name of another person or company...they cannot see someone or some other firm/company coming up...God is the Judge for all, that they fail to remember.

Even though many such incidents have been reported, it has been mainly the handiwork of the logistics guys!!

BTW, from the pic the size of the box does not appear to be able to accommodate the dimensions of the camera model ordered which should have aroused immediate suspicion to a professional cameraman!! Also, in the invoice tax has been charged which appears abnormal for Flipkart order?

Surprised with the speed with which Flipkart (without conducting an investigation) paying back the customer on the same day??

This is just a made up story. I have never faced such incident, yes I have received faulty products which was either replaced or refunded, but not stones. If there is no stock they will inform through email. This is to spoil the image of online shopping. Online shopping has been a hit and very few people buy from malls and other stores. You get the best price, offers and additional discounts plus the products comes right at your doorsteps.

He should have filed complaint against flipkart in consumer court....Our people are least aware of it...If he wins in Consumer court it may advise respective shopping portal to pay huge amount.....than what he bought...considering reputed shopping portal sending a stone for a 50k amount good..it may be in crores...Flipkart representative made sure that it wont go that way...intelligent chap...!!
People must be made aware there is a district consumer court state consumer court and nationally.....Each as different amount of compensation...

Flipkart should prosecute the dealer for the fraud & recover 10 times the amount as he has wrecked the reputation of the Online shopping Company.
As one comment suggested, see the rating of dealer when deciding to buy any product online.
I've bought many things online from different online portals & I am satisfied with their performance.
One dealer didn't send a free item along with other item, they(snapdeal) promptly redressed the grievance by crediting my account with the free product value.

    WS RETAIL IS flipkart
Other sellers are the ones giving a bad name to flipkart.
All sellers are given flipkart branded boxes, so THIS IS THE SELLERS mistake and not flipkart
