Mangaluru: Driver of backhoe critical after hillock caves in

Mangaluru, Mar 13: After a huge mound of earth got dislodged on a backhoe that was digging a hillock at Gurpur Kadlegudde on Thursday March 12 evening, its driver, identified as Arun Kumar, suffered serious injuries.

The backhoe was digging into the hillock at Kadlegudde that was standing near the road. After the landslide buried the entire vehicle under its weight, the driver was also stuck inside the mud. Some local youth rushed to his rescue, dug out the mud, and helped him to get admitted into a hospital here.

Arun Kumar's condition continues to be serious. The backhoe suffered extensive damage in the incident.
