Church attack: Hisar priest was luring youths with bride promise, Haryana CM says

CHANDIGARH, Mar 17 (TOI) : Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday told the assembly that the priest of the church that was demolished in Hisar's Kaimri village had been luring Hindu youths to his faith by promising to get them brides.

The CM, who raised the issue in the House himself, told the MLAs that Kaimri villagers were opposed to the "so-called church". A group of attackers had torn down the under-construction church on Sunday.

Khattar said initially the priest, Subhash Chand, had started preaching from the Bible to the 10 to 12 workers involved in constructing the structure on February 8. "Some people from Kaimri and Hisar had opposed it then, but the village sarpanch had settled the matter," he said, adding that an FIR was registered against 14 people on the priest's complaint.

The CM also gave details of a complaint made by a village youth who alleged that Chand had made objectionable comments about Hindu gods. "The youth was shunted out and beaten up when he opposed the priest's statement," Khattar said, quoting from the youth's complaint.

Soon after Khattar's statement, Congress MLAs, including Karan Singh Dalal, stood up to blame an organization connected with the BJP for the attack on the church. Dalal suggested the constitution of an all-party committee to look into the issue.

"They (Congressmen) have been trying to divide people in the name of communalism," state finance minister Captain Abhimanyu said. He said a person named in the FIR had connections with a senior Congress functionary.

Gyan Chand Gupta, BJP MLA from Panchkula, also blamed the Congress for giving the matter a communal colour.

Ranbir Singh Gangwa, INLD MLA from Nalwa, told the assembly that some people from the village had highlighted the issue to gain benefit in the panchayat polls. Kaimri village falls under Nalwa assembly constituency. "After the villagers, some people who had introduced themselves as Bajrang Dal workers also opposed the construction of the church," said Gangwa. He said villagers of Kaimri and nearby villages held a panchayat on Monday to declare that they did not demolish the church.

Khattar, however, said there was need "for a check on works with wrong intentions."

"The thought of female feoticide in India has baffled me a lot"
    - female feoticide is a form of Child Sacrifice. That should clear the baffle :)
    - India before Jesus Christ came practised child and other forms of human sacrifice (e.g. Sati)
    - The modern world moved by Satan has legitimised the propagation of this wicked practise defiling the image of God by calling it womans fundamental right
    - Most people are unaware of their participation in this and other contraceptive practises.
    - Pray to Jesus Christ so that he may open the hearts of the vast people to stay away from these practises.

No but seriously, I think Christians are wasting their time and efforts in India. No point doing any good for these people. School , colleges, hospitals , for whose sake should they go about doing all this. Its pointless. I would say Just concentrate on your own family life and prosper, forget all these people, they don't deserve any good.

"I would say Just concentrate on your own family life and prosper, forget all these people, they don't deserve any good"
    - This thinking is VERY Unchristian and contrary to what Jesus Christ taught and did
    - We have been ransomed by Jesus Christ, the eternal God who shed his life to redeem mankind and offer salvation to all.
    - We were not born to concentrate on family life and prosper, but to give glory to God and to love his creation as Christ loves his creation
    - Jesus Christ said in John 15:13 "Greater love than this no man hath, that a man lay down his life for his friends"
    - Jesus Christ has called us (his creation) his friends especially if we follow him, rather than servants which we should be since Jesus Christ is God and we are his creation!
    - The people who hate Jesus Christ and hate his followers need God's love, forgiveness and mercy just as we Christians need God's love, mercy and forgiveness.

Read about the oldest Universities of India like the Chennai-Mumbai and Calcutta University, who did work behind that? The foreign Christian Missionaries.

The oldest University in India is the Serampore University in West Bengal. The oldest college is the CMS college in Kottayam, Kerala.

Take the list of the Indian political leaders-movie stars-scientists-religious leaders etc etc got educated in the prominent Christian schools and colleges like the St. Stepehn's college in Delhi-Wilson College in Mumbai-Madras Christian college in Cheannai-Lyolla college in Chennai-American college in Madhura (Tamil Nadu) etc etc.

Mr. Kattar, are youa CM or a joker?? You said " "The youth was shunted out and beaten up when he opposed the priest's statement,". What action your government took against that priest if it is true? Now you're telling us that rest started everything. BTW, vinayak prabhu, Sathish Shetty, sampath J.anatha, Jeevan and Shankar..are you people trying to say that your religion is so weak that someone can lure Hindu youths to priest's faith by promising to get them brides. Dont they have guts to say, thanks we can find brides in our community? BTW, how many brides are there in that community in Haryana where female infanticide. BTW, Mukesh, tell you what.. you do not know how much fund VHP/RSS has, why cant they buy God by money as you claimed. There are so many poor families in India and let them try with the money whether people can jump from religion to religion, you should advice them instead of Ghar vapsi at least they get money as reward.

I am not at all surprised by the senseless statement by Haryana Chief Minister saying Hisar priest was luring youths with bride promise

First of all, Haryana youths are very brave, agitating quality living close to the Pakistani border. One cannot fool with them. If the priest would have said this, long time he would have been finished. Continuing in this locality and building the church had panicked some fanatics fringe groups. Always the locals are more accommodative and it is always the outsiders create rift, division by instigating few local youths.

Truth will always win over lies and time will be the witness.

CM making such statements - they look so ordinary and one feels there is no truth in what he said.
Such ordinary statements are done by lower rung officials who are low-profiled.
Is there a need of proof for any accusation made? CM did not mention having any proof of conversion. As per constitution any one can preach\profess\follow what they believe in as long as it is not anti-constitutional.
In all cases of conversion by luring\bribing\force, those who complain conversion is done by such means, should back their charges with real proof and not by word of mouth which any tom dick and harry can do to blame some people they do not like.
For that matter "Ghar Wapsi' was done with promises which was openly published in the N\Papers.
I also denounce change of faith by anyone under duress. Such conversions have no meaning at all and are wrong.

If at all the priest had been luring young men for bridal favours, then why wasn't he booked on charges of inducing conversions for social favours? Ananta,

Missionaries can only preach, its upto the people to go to meet them or leave them alone. Conversions can be done only by an established Church. You cannot prove that a missionary converted a person because a missionary has no office to register/issue a baptism certificate. Missionary service is voluntary - not permanent.

Until you understand this theory, the problem will go on.

The thought of female feoticide in India has baffled me a lot. I estimate that within another few years gay marriages (man with man) will be a norm in these parts of India where female feoticide is so rampant.

And the Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar might then realize that he should have supported the priest who might have been doing the right thing by proposing to young men that they marry young women, let alone the conversion theory, at least there would be a natural relationship between man and woman instead of the unnatural relationships man and man bound to happen within a few years time.

Attacking by some Hindu Outfits (backed by the gov't) then the final verdict is robbery, loot, luring money etc. etc. Why only these things are happening now? The saying goes here ULTA CHOR KOTHWAL KO DANTE.

mukesh you seem to be a block head. dalits were never tortured by christians it is the the higher society of hindus who tormented them and used them to do their dirty works and treat them as outcaste even if their shadow falls on them they will have bath. hence they embrassed budhism.. now they are after missionaries since missionaries are educating small farmers and making them know their rights therefore these rich landlords alongwith fanatics donot wnat to loose bondage labour and want to take possession of even the little land which farmers hold hence the wrath against missionaries.

Its very saddening that only after the saffron party came to power all this religious intolerance is happening. During the Congress rule there were stray incidents. Just because they got majority that dosnt mean they take the law completely into their hands. Their affiliated parties are also fanatics in their own way.Everything is misconstrued, concocted to give a diff picture.

This is all cover up stories. No one can take law in their hands. tongue has no bone so talk want you want and put the blame on someone when you are at fault. This is all polly tricks. Please for God's just do a good preaching and let it be open. Please let people decide what they want to do with their life, we are no one to dictate to anyone.

Haryana is having Draupadi Syndrome due to very low Ratio of Girls-to-Boys mainly because of rampant female foeticide in Haryana & Rajathan. (Draupadi syndrome means marrying one girl by many brothers). So, instead of blaming some priest of luring youths with bride promise let them severely punish all the families who encourage girl child infanticide.

I agree with you at this, Mr. Shenava,

The girls they purchase to be Draupadi are nowhere else than our own Bidar/Gulbarga area of poor agricultural families. The people there depend on poor rain and grow just one crop a year after which they either migrate to other areas in search for food or get lured by men from Haryana seeking woman for the entire men flock of the family.

Once the women bore enough sons (girls are strangled at birth), and upon either getting too weak or sick, they are driven out. There are several girls ended up at their maternal house with this background who eventually take up prostitution.

Why cant RSS educate people from Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab about " Broon Hathya "....????

If they want do real social service they have to give TOP Priority for this evil practice.

    Mr. Lobo,

How will RSS revise their advice to women ? A prominent RSS leader advised women to practice Ashtha-Puthto-Bhava blessing and produce eight sons. There is no mention about what to do with the girls that may take birth in-between or instead of a male child. So, the followers strangled a daughter born and went on to achieve the dictated number of sons.

They don't worry about from where to bring a wife for their sons, obviously human trafficking or giving in to barter with their own religion as they accuse here to be happening ?

I say, Haryanvis deserve this situation ! Curse of your dead daughters !

Prove it. if you cant do it then dont blabber. Its not true.
So what if this man preached the gospel. Listening or not listening to it is your choice. If you dont want to listen then walk away or ask the person to leave.
If you feel that people were lured by giving money ( as you are saying)then the once who accepted that money and converted themselves are equally shameless. Blame such people cause they sell themselves.

Stop blaming christians for things that are not true. You live and let others also live in peace. This is least you could do.
