IAS officer's death: Govt announces CID probe as protests erupt across state

Updated

Bengaluru, Mar 17 (PTI): Refusing to concede the Opposition demand for a CBI probe, Karnataka Government today announced a CID inquiry into the death of an upright IAS officer who allegedly committed suicide under mysterious circumstances, as the issue rocked the state Assembly.

Not satisfied with Chief Minister Siddaramiah's reply, opposition BJP and JDS members stormed into the well of the House and staged a dharna, raising slogans against the government for "failing" to protect honest officials.

As the Opposition raised the issue, Siddaramiah said as per police account it is prima facie a case of suicide, but the government will investigate it impartially to unravel the mystery behind the officer's death.

"Is it a suicide or a murder or has he died of some other reasons, we also want to know the truth. People should also know it," Siddaramaiah said, asserting that the city police were also efficient.

He said the case would be probed by Crime Investigation Department and "it will bring out the truth. We will have an impartial probe," he said triggering protests from opposition benches as their demand for a CBI probe was not accepted.

Home Minister K J George also said the preliminary report will be placed before the House in the next 15 days.

George's statement that some clues had been obtained by police in their preliminary probe that there could be some personal reasons for the suicide evoked protests from the opposition.

Earlier, Opposition BJP Leader Jagadish Shettar demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter as he suspected a case of murder, not suicide as claimed by police.

Protests erupt across Karnataka after IAS officer's death

Bengaluru, Mar 17 (Agencies): After the sudden death of IAS officer D K Ravi last night, protests have erupted across the state of Karnataka.

All politicians including Congress and BJP are equally responsible for corruption, as both are partners in looting.

BJP is joining protest here is to get the mileage and all those leaders of BJP, who want CBI enquiry for this case, their assets have multiplied much higher in BJP tenure. Are they ready for their asset to be investigated by the CBI or by a special investigating cell?

While looking at the opposition photo above, none of the opposition party are serious but seems like they are in party mood. Sad we lost an Honest IAS Officer DK Ravi. He was forced to die under mysterious circumstances because of land mafia, sand mafia, political mafia.

We will follow your path & your aim to be reached one day 100%.

Its shame on us, we did not protect such a honest officer who serves for our nation, and faced a death as its end results.

Surely many more persons will put another 100% effort to clear UPSC,.
hope many more DK.Ravi will be there soon here, to remove all corrupted politicians/industries oil,sand,coal,etc...

But we can not get him back.. Its killing my mind from monday..
Surely, many more D.K.Ravi will be there to serve our nation.

We must pass "protection-bill for All IAS/IPS/IRS who serves for nation", they must be given a "Z-security force" kind to make them to take decision very bravely/bold at any level against ministers/CM/PM,any gang who inits corruptions..

After successful raids in Kolar and most recently in Bangalore, including last week, news within the power corridors was that the anti-corruption crusader, despite being a IAS officer in Central Govt service under an extraordinarily corrupt state Govt, a rare-specimen called D K Ravi was about to raid a bunch of corrupt housing societies and real-estate dons who are protected by none other than the senior most ministers associated with real-estate firms in Blr that have miraculously increased business by over 500% to 2000%, in the past few years!

What is ironic is that two of the cabinet ministers who are themselves partners in two major real estate building firms in Bangalore that were most recently raided by DK Ravi, were among the first politicians to lay a wreath on the dead body and shed crocodile tears!

Under top priority instructions from their political masters, the local police would have already removed all forensic evidence from the house (including finger prints of the 3 unknown intruders disguised as tax officers) while the CID under the controversial home minister will have been tasked with a white wash-exercise overnight, before finally handing over the case to CBI, under public pressure. There will be 24/7 media news & obviously high TRP ratings on this popular-sensitive topic for next few days and everything will be forgotten after that.

Is it true that none other than the Karnataka Homes Minister is a partner in the Embassy Group (caters to the billionaire club), that was
    raided by DK Ravi?

Is it also true that ex-don, now cong-I strong man and state-minister DK Shivakumar's real estate firms were also raided by DK Ravi?

If indeed true, is it also true that there are mere coincidences?

Politicians who doesn't know anything rule over IAS / IPS officers / Bureaucrats which is not acceptable at all. Educated IAS/IPS officers working under stupid uneducated politicians, what is this logic? After all bureaucrates are the policy makers, why can't they rule? Why we have to allow thugs to rule us? These fat politicians making our life a hell, they don't even have a little sympathy for the honest officer. It's a shame for all of us. Democracy is not suitable for our country. I was during February 2013 and March 2013 to investigate and report major tax evasions in Karnataka. I have a detailed report but nothing has happened. There is large scale evasion in every item that is being taxed under Kanrataka VAT Act. The department officers are posted on the basis of their investment. It has become business. Recently in Mangalore one Sri.Shambu Bhat was promoted and posted as DCCT, Enforcement Mangalore. He was a strict officer. Within 15 days of his posting he was transferred to an unwanted post. The Government unnecessarily levies extra tax when it can collect huge tax from evaders. The recent hike in tax on petrol and diesel was unnecessary. There is huge evasion of tax and it is in full collusion with the departmental officers. Time has come to use narco analysis test on top department officers like joint commissioners and additional commissioners to bring out the truth how they have collided with clandestine transporters and tax evaders. I have got evidence of how clandestine activities take place. You can contact me on 9845490714

Pray for his soul to rest in peace. We Kannadigas should not leave his sincere efforts to go in vain. We all should ensure that proper investigation is conducted and the guilty punished severely and send a strong message to the power mafia's/politician who are involved. Every Govt. comes and thinks of only filling in their pockets and seeing their benefit. We should now think what you and I as a citizen of India can do to stop corruption and bring back law and order in the state as well as the country. How we can live in harmony and peace. We need to think deeply on these issues. No use waiting for Govt to do something on their own. Need to push the Govt to do what we want and not what they want.

No party BJP nor Congress or Janata Dal should be asked to join the protest.
Since all parties in Karnataka are the same.
All do only one thing that is loot.

Dear Jeevan, Do not deliver the judgment. Honest officer lost his life for the sake of his principle he believed. To my belief even two thousand crore extra revenue collected by him surely spent on benefit of politicians regardless of party not for public. All water flows to ocean. We people failed to protect the life of efficient officer who is threatened for his life with the intension known to all. criminal and goondas will get z class security to continue their activity without any obstacle. we shall pray for Ravi,s soul to rest in peace and not to born again.

According to latest information, he had discussed his plan with his officers to raid some strong, influential company in Bangalore. Most probably, that message might have been leaked. This is a preplanned murder with help of politicians. Mr.Ravi has exposed Tax fraud Rs 129 crore rupees in 4 months..

His last message to junior officers in a meeting on friday "Huliyante 4 dina baduki mattu janara kalyanakke baduki "

Might be this is a pre planned murder by the Sand mafia, land mafia, politicians and with the support of some corrupt police personnel too. This is expressed in English TV media today.

How come Banglaore police Commissioner says, prima facie evidence says it is a suicide case. Honest officers never dare for death but fights. So chances of suicide is not at all possible.

This seems like pre planned murder by the powerful land, sand mafia group.

Mr. Ravi was a man of action. His death is really a great loss to the society. Though there are many stories going around regarding his untimely demise, his position can not be filled by anyone else. There is no place for a straight forward man in present day society. May Almighty grant him eternal rest and strength to his family to bear the loss.

I am deeply saddened as i read more about this death. Sadly he will never ever comeback. So much for being upright honest officer and in the state which boasts of intellectuals, boodi jeevis, educated and well governed. This is not up/bihar which wouldnt have surprised me. I AM COCKSURE THAT, THIS MAN WOULD NEVER COMMIT SUICICDE. if he feared he would have made so called "adjust maadi" n lived happily and wouldnt want a posting in kolar or backward districts ..instead chosen a plum posting in benglore like kejriwals do! He is eliminated.. i m sure there wont be candle march as it is a secular state... wont be uprising because he is hindu and wont be any enquiry because it leads to ugly secrets of political class... i am deeply saddened. I dont want him to rest in peace, but come back and haunt all those who betrayed him... amen!
