Mangaluru: MCC demolishes petty shops near State Bank

Mangaluru, Mar 17: The officials of Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) on Tuesday March 17 demolished several illegal petty shops along the area between State Bank and Lady Goschen hospital here.

At least eight shops and three vehicles selling fast food were also removed for not possessing licenses. However, the total number of demolitions is not yet certain as operation is still going on.

The petty shops included those selling fruits, vegetables and beverages.

Speaking to daijiworld, deputy revenue commissioner Rajiv Mogaveer said, "These petty shops were on the foothpaths and did not have permits to operate. Though we did not serve any notice as such, our officials informed the shop owners about the demolition on Monday March 16, and the operation was conducted today.

"The process is still going on and the final statistics will be known only by evening," he added.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of the revenue commissioner.

Assistant revenue officer Vijay, health inspector Bharat Kumar, officials Koovappa, Yashodhar, Karunakar and others took part in the operation.

    UNATHORISED SHOPS ARE REMOVED BY MCC IS VERY GOOD WORK.IN THIS NOT A QUASTION OF POOR AND RICH.LAW FOR EVERY 1 IS EQUAL.BUT MCC IS DOING ONCE AND KEEPING SILENCE TILL AGAIN FULL OF FOOTPATH.SOULD MAINTAIN DAY TO DAY .

    The roads are covered by parking vehicles in the city.The roads are neither free to vehicle movement or people movement.The petty shop keeper should not be allowed at the initial stage itself. Now removing these shops shows the failure of the duty by the department concerned and disciplinary action should be initiated those who failed to do the duty .This is part of the duty they do now which they failed to do and caused inconvenience to the people.

    They should have permanent law and designated area for these vendors .the govt whenever they feel do this and then it's forgotten ,soon the sellers will be back .
    These vendors are enterprising ,keep unemployment and crime away but they should be given a proper way to operate ,many families will benefit.

    Kindly give them a few days to clear their things from the shop. Please do not put the family on the road. Those who have everything will not realise the fate of hunger and thirst, but those who have nothing they will simply die for want of food.

    When ever they need some urgent money, they make such drama and after a couple of weeks things coming to normal like dog's tale. This is not the first time na, MCC demolishing? It's like renewing the licence, once in a year they do this for some pocket money.

    Good work by MCC. I would like draw the attention of MCC in NITK Surathkal also. Many petty shops have been placed between the two main gates of Prestigious Institute NITK Surathkal. One cant see the NITK college because of these unauthorized petty shops. Main gate itself they are preparing fish Non-Vegetarian food. Please look in to this matter, try to evacuate the shops if possible.

    This is not fair cuz the ppl who have thier shops there must have done heavy loans and brought the goods, people going in cars never understand the importance of the petty shops cuz they have "SUPERMARKETS" to buy things. common man depends on these shops and the petty shop owners along with his family depends on the earning done by the shop.

    Provide proper employment without the f**king recommendations and other stuffs, then the city will automatically be SWATCH Mangalore.

    the illegal petty shops will stop all by itself then.

    I am sure, the police people/ the municipal ppl who are removing those shops, have done business with the owners at 1 point of time.

    Once i went to Fish Market near State Bank i parked my Vehicle near the market and i wondered from where to walk?! because the whole footpath were occupied by the fruit sellers and vegetable sellers!. i say good move by M.C.C. and even i urge Govt to provide them a place where they can do the business..
