Mangaluru: Gold worth Rs 15.25 lac found under flight seat, passenger arrested

Mangaluru, Mar 17: The officers of customs at Mangalore International Airport on Tuesday March 17 seized gold worth Rs 15.25 lac concealed under the seat of a Jet Airways flight from Dubai.

Passenger identified as Abdul Khader Kunhamoo (58), a resident of Kasaragod, was arrested in this regard.

The customs officials seized five ten-tola gold bars totally weighing 583.300 grams, valued at Rs 15,25,330, brought by Abdul Khader.

He brought the five gold bars by concealing them under seat number 23F of Jet Airways flight 9W531 in which he had travelled from Dubai to Mangaluru. The flight landed at Mangalore International Airport at about 8.25 am on Tuesday.

The passenger was arrested and produced before the chief judicial magistrate on Tuesday for remand.

Further investigation is under progress.

    The Govt has to investigate whether there is connection between gold smuggling and terrorism. People won't be so mad to lose so much gold knowingly. Its 100% sure that this is not their hard earned money.

    Why can't we make such rules, that will put a complete stop to these kinds of smuggling.drug smuggling is punished by death penalties in countries like Soudi , U.A.E., etc. Because of danger to the health of people. Barring such materials all other generally smuggled things should not have any price difference in our country &other. This will stop people from this smuggling menace, and save our custom officials from every day checking people's rectum & do better things.

    God sake he his not the culprit..
    May be somebody else kept gold under the flight seat..
    He do not have any connection..
    Kasargod always famous for good work..carrying gold under different way..
    Without which how the family will run..Kerala do not have much industries..
