Puttur, Mar 18: Based on a complaint filed by a college student alleging rape, Yashodhar (34), a photographer operating a studio at Udane and residing at Shibaje here was arrested by Uppinangady police on Tuesday March 17. A case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act was registered against him.

The complainant, a student of a PU college near Udane, had visited the studio run by Yashodhar for getting herself photographed sometime back. The accused had got himself acquainted with the girl student during this visit. On Sunday he reportedly invited the girl to visit his studio, and raped her after she came there. The student said that the accused also threatened her to kill her if she revealed about the incident to her family members.

However, the girl informed her family about the incident on Tuesday. Her parents, supported by some locals, then filed a complaint in Uppinangady police station.

The accused is a bachelor. It is learnt that similar case had also been registered against him in the past.
