D K Ravi's parents stage protest; CID officer leading probe abruptly transferred

Bengaluru, Mar 18 (Agencies): Late IAS officer D K Ravi's parents Kariappa and Gowramma on Wednesday staged a protest outside Vidhana Soudha demanding a CBI probe into the mysterious death of their son.

D K Ravi was not only my son but the son of the entire country, said the late IAS officer's mother.

The deceased IAS officer's parents said that they would commit suicide if the case was not handed over to CBI.

D K's parents want the government to appoint the deceased IAS officer's wife to his post.

The opposition rejected CID probe and demanded CBI probe into the death of the IAS officer.

The Karnataka assembly has been adjourned till tomorrow after ruckus over D K Ravi's death.

BJP will be moving a privilege motion against Bangalore police commissioner M N Reddi.
The association of IAS officers also demand CBI probe into Ravi's death.

According to media reports, a mystery caller had contacted Ravi thrice and is suspected to be behind his mysterious death.

Ravi got a call when he was travelling in car with 1 IPS officer and 3 IAS officers. Ravi got out of the car and shouted at the caller, sources said.

Investigation officer transferred, IGP Pratap Reddy to lead probe

Meanwhile, it is learnt that Pronob Mohantty, IGP of CID, who was leading the investigation into the death of D K Ravi, has been abruptly transferred to Lokayukta.

The transfer was announced on Wednesday, only a day after the case was handed over to the CID.

"Pronab Mohanty, IPS (KN-94), inspector general of police, CID, Bengaluru is transferred with immediate effect and posted until further orders as inspector general of police," stated the order copy dated March 18.

IGP Pratap Reddy will now replace Mohanty and lead the investigation.

Just back from office was watching TV9 (my fav channel) - hats off to Kannada actors Mr. Sudip and Mr. Shivraj Kumar for their bold support for DK Ravi. This should be a fight for justice and all God fearing ppl should bring the thugs to justice. Those who were involved to silence Mr. DK Ravi remember your souls are already in the court of Almighty's Court for judgement. All the youth of India should ask for justice because if they remain silent one day they will pay the price.

NO PLACE FOR HONESTY. All are becoming corrupt as the days move ahead. Young people who want to work honestly have mysterious deaths and no action taken at all. SAD VERY SAD. Wondering if my children should be taught to be honest or no. Its really shameful to see bad winning over good where actually it should have been vice versa. As said all should work to see that we have honest young people becoming IAS and IPS. HATS OF TO THE HONEST OFFICER.

Clearly looks like this honest and upright IAS officer had taken on in a big way the big realty/sand mafia with links to powerful people/underworld guys, which incurred their wrath lest a big can of worms open out and expose the culprits!! Hope his sacrifice does not go in vain and the main culprits are brought to justice!! This IAS officer is a real martyr!! Jai Hind!!

CID or CBI, CONGRESS OR BJP do not matter as long as there is a will to punish the people at the top. But sadly the law enforcement agencies have become henchmen of the elite. What happened to Satish Shetty case which was handed over to CBI A Closure report letting off the accused within six months BJP came to power. CID OR CBI the net results are same except for some party politicking and taking people for long drive.

Why Commercial tax officers are not opposing. I have credible information that to get a posting as enforcement officer in Bangalore you have to invest 50 to 100 lakhs. These officers are then blindfolded and they cannot see any evasion. An honest IAS officer should come and catch the evaders!!!!! In China there is a method of brain mapping or narco analysis. Recently a corrupt politbureu member committed suicide because he was to be subject to narco analysis the next day. Unfortunately here in Karnataka honest officer was forced to commit suicide. I have got information that every 5 minutes 1 lorry worth Rs. 1 crore valued goods gets unloaded in Bangalore without any check by any officer. All the commercial tax officers including check post officers, Additional commissioners joint commissioners deputy commissioners totalling nearly 150 of them in Bangalore are booked by clandestine transporters. Let there be narco analysis of all these officers including the predecessors of DK Ravi. Why his predecessors could not catch these tax evaders. What the Lokayukta is doing. Perhaps they are alos booked.
This is unfortunate. When Government can collect huge revenue from these evaders it is increasing tax on petrol and diesel in the budget. Easy money for wasteful government spending. I feel that India should be handed over atleast for a year to the Chinese. They will clean up the system of these corrupt bureacrats and politicians. The Courts of law can take suo motto action on these corrupt officers. There should be a narco analysis of each and every officer who has worked in Bangalore enforcemeent for the last 15 years. If such a thing is done then I feel that there will be justice. Otherwise there would be goonda raj.
    Jai Karnataka

    Jossey,

Here is response to your sequence of events/Questions.

    1. Wife complains he was not picking up her phone means there was some friction.

Answer: DK Ravi returned to his apartment around 11 AM from office( which is strange), his wife sent food from his father in law's house to office through somebody,,, she received a message from person trying to deliver the food that Ravi was not in office to received the lunch...looks like she was surprised and started calling him...perhaps Ravi was dead by then, hence could not answer her phone calls.

    2. No struggle marks on the body implies he was not killed or forced to commit suicide.

Answer:True, but people in high places could put pressure on somebody to commit suicide if not physically making him hang himself.

    3. He got out of his car and yelled at a mysterious caller who had called two times before.

Answer: Agree, may be this caller may have something to do with Ravi's death directly or indirectly.

    4. No need of going to Scotland Yard. His mobile phone has all the answers.

    Answer: Agree.

    5. Million dollar question is – Can we trust our CID to do a honest job

Answer: No, if HM is directly or indirectly involved in this, don't expect them to give a report against their boss. That's why CBI inquiry needed here.

    6. Why was Pronob Mohantty, IGP of CID, abruptly shunted.

Answer:Perhaps CM and HM thought its difficult to manipulate Mohantty than Pratap Reddy, even though he did a good job during Manipal medical student rape case, when he was IGP Western Range, Mangalore.

    7. Given the above circumstances CBI is best suited for the job …

    Answer: Yes

    - If someone wanted to kill IAS officer DK Ravi, why they should take the risk of going to his flat to kill him, where CCTV camera's installed & security guards posted? They could have done it somewhere else...!
    - Why DK Ravi returned home from office within 1 hour, from his duty timing?

The honest officer died fighting against corrouption by all kind of mafia protected by corroupt politicians. I feel honest officers have no way to clean the system. This case is very clear government has hands in this sucide. He raided firms belongs to powerful Ministers and the result is in front of us. I feel sorry for the parents and family of this great officer and a big loss to all of us. May god give enough strngth to his family to overcome the grief. His soul may not rest unitl the culprits are punished. The tragidy is that all political leaders of different parties (BJP,JDS and others)trieng to get milage to their parties in this sad incident. State government is fully responsible for his death. Our ministers attended funeral with crocodile tears. If IAS officers association is strong they should fight for their subordinate to get justice. Majority officers are corroupt and has hand in glows with tainted ministers. Karnataka has one of the worst and useless Home Minsiter it is our fate too... I could not understand why Govt is hesitating to hand over this crucial issue to CBI. By not doing so, i think Siddaramaiah will do a great mistake which will cost Congress a lot. BJP is already trying to get benefit out of this and Siddaramaiah should not give a chance to these opportunists. It is sure that bjp support to hand over the issue CBI is only political one and nothing else. BJP has in many cases opposed to such issues while bjp was in power and same thing happned in Gujrat also where thousands of muslims were killed by sangh parivar terrorists and Modi was a dumb spectator.
