Mangaluru, Mar 19: In an incident which occurred at Elinje Patte Punkedadi near Mulky, two ladies were hospitalized after having been beaten up severely by a woman and her neighbour.

The injured people who were at the receiving end of this brutality happen to be the daughter-in-law of the assailant and her sister. Both are admitted into the community health centre at Mulky.

Jovita Shaila Saldanha (22) said in her complaint filed at Mulky police station that her sister, Jesovita Mathias, had accompanied her to the house of her mother-in- law at Elinje Punkedadi. She said that both were watching a television programme there, when argument arose on some trivial issue.

Jovita's mother-in-law and her neighbour together beat up the sisters, banged their heads against the wall, and brutally treated them, she said. The injured sisters then got admitted into the hospital.

Jovita has named her mother-in-law as Celina Saldanha and her neighbour as those who thrashed her and her sister. She explained that she usually stays in her parental house at Damaskatte, as her husband works in a foreign country.

She also said she faces death threat from her mother-in-law and other members of her husband's family, and that they had launched the attack on her purposefully, after waiting for their son to return to his workplace.
