Swine flu toll in Rajasthan now 397


Jaipur, March 19 (IANS): The toll due to swine flu in the desert state of Rajasthan has touched 397, as 10 more deaths were reported across the state, officials said on Wednesday.

Among the dead since the beginning of this year, 22 were from other states, while 375 were residents of Rajasthan, an official of the health department told IANS.

The number of H1N1 positive cases touched 6,308 on Wednesday.

State capital Jaipur reported the maximum deaths at 77, followed by 43 in Ajmer, 33 in Jodhpur and 30 in Nagaur.

The state government has decided to continue to screen patients showing symptoms similar to swine flu.

Doctors have been asked to start giving Tamiflu tablets as soon as possible to patients showing symptoms of the flu, the official said.

Rajasthan has already made medical tests free for people suffering from swine flu.
