Cyclone heads towards Australia


Brisbane, March 19 (IANS): A cyclone is heading towards Australia's Queensland coast after it was predicted not to make landfall, a media report said.

A category three cyclone, Nathan is heading towards Queensland, having moved away from the region after forming in the Coral Sea nine days ago, ABC reported on Thursday.

According to the bureau of meteorology, Nathan is expected to make landfall somewhere between Cape Melville and Cooktown Friday morning.

This is the third cyclone in a month and its core is being described as "very destructive". It could reach maximum wind gusts of 260 km per hour.
