More Russian humanitarian aid reaches Donetsk

Moscow, March 19 (IANS): The Russian emergencies ministry’s convoy has delivered more humanitarian aid to Donetsk in eastern Ukraine, the ministry’s centre on crisis situations told Tass news agency on Thursday.

Trucks have delivered food, medicines, essentials, building materials, books and sports equipment for universities and schools, the centre's spokesman said.

A similar humanitarian cargo had earlier been delivered to Lugansk.

More than 170 trucks brought over 1,900 tonnes of humanitarian cargo to Donetsk and Lugansk.

"The unloading of trucks has started in Lugansk and Donetsk. After that, the trucks will return to Russia," the spokesman said.

Since August 2014, humanitarian aid is being delivered to Donbass region in Ukraine, comprising the self-proclaimed republics of Donetsk and Lugansk, from Russia.
