New Delhi, March 19 (IANS): President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday congratulated the Indian cricket team for its 109-run victory over Bangladesh in the second World Cup quarter-final in Melbourne.

With this victory, defending champions India entered the semi-final of the tournament. They will meet the winner of the Australia vs Pakistan quarter-final.

"Congratulations Team India on the win against Bangladesh; sportsmanship of both teams commendable," the president tweeted.

"Excellent game, excellent performance! Congrats yet again Team India," posted Modi.

Guided by opener Rohit Sharma's 137, India posted a challenging total of 302/6 in 50 overs in the quarter-final.
