Mangaluru: Foundation laid for musical fountain at Kadri Deer Park

Mangaluru, Mar 21: The foundation stone for the musical fountain at old Deer Park in Kadri was laid on Saturday March 21.

Apart from the musical fountain, the park will also house new quarters for police task force.

Urban development minister Vinay Kumar Sorake and district incharge minister B Ramanath Rai laid the foundation for both the projects.

Addressing the gathering, Vinay Kumar Sorake said, "The state government is concentrating on improving tourism in Karnataka. Mangaluru is considered the second most important city in the state after Bengaluru. Tourism potential is high in this coastal region. We will make Mangaluru a tourist destination in the coming days."

District incharge minister Ramanath Rai said, "In comparison to other cities, Mangaluru is short of parks and open space. Very soon two more parks will come up in Bantwal. We are giving importance to making Manglauru a beautiful and clean city."

J R Lobo in his presidential address said, "The musical fountain will be completed in six months. Tenders will be invited shortly for its construction through the Mangaluru Urban Development Authority (MUDA), which will take at least two months, and thereafter in four months, the installation of fountain will be completed. The musical fountain will also have laser show."

Lobo thanked the urban development minister for approving the proposal and sanctioning the fund swiftly for Kadri Park development society.

Chairman of MUDA Kodijal Ibrahim welcomed the guests.

The project, with an estimated cost of Rs 4.97 crore, includes putting up fences and installation of 15 food stalls. By November this year, the project is expected to be completed.

    One more thing is that the road from Cochin bakery ( opp.Nanthoor school) to circuit house can be d one way, and people coming from circuit hour area should ta,ke the round about and proceed towards Nanthoor. Meanwhile our Honourable D.C. should take action against the garage and nursery, builders, and others who has blocked the entire service road lying parallel to the high way in Nanthoor.

    How can tax payers allow such a waste for a foundation laying ceremony for a tiny project of just under Rs.5 crores..??!!

    I wonder if they plan Obama for its inauguration as Chief guest..??!!

    Is a musical fountain really needed? More imp. is to restore the toy train , keep the park clean and surroundings with a good garden. The musical fountain though a great idea will be good for a year then it may be just a pond collecting filth

    I really don't understand what is the use of having a foundation laying ceremony here. So many ministers, MLAs, MLCs, Government Officers gathered there-such a big waste of valuable time. Only advertisement for these politicians.

    Musical Fountain at Kadri Deer Park will be a nice contribution for the face uplift of Kadri Deer Park and the nearby surroundings. More and more people will be able to enjoy these new facilities along with their families and friends. Parks and Recreations is a good budget for any City for beautification of their metropolitan environment. It brings more satisfaction in the minds of people because not only the place will have a new appearance but will also bring more favorable impression on all people visiting Mangalore and create new opportunity for tourism, recreational pass time and business.

    Providing additional security facility with new Police wing is also a nice step in the right direction.

    Safety and Security will always be the hallmark of a stable City and Municipality because there are always elements in the society that can bring a bad scar on our face by creating wrongful doings that will hinder the basic peace and tranquility of the land. There are unfortunately lot of bad apples in the society that we live.

    Appearance of a Police force in any attractive spots is very important.

    In the Western world, in addition to the physical existence of the uniformed Officers on all important sites round the clock, there are also various electronic monitoring systems that are prevalent even on tall skyscrapers so that culprits could be easily spotted and put to immediate discipline. There are so many secret surveillance systems in operation all over the Cities as well as Sports and Recreation centers so that each and every calamity is monitored well and all the intentions of the City fathers is fulfilled to everyone's satisfaction. Thank you, Mr. J.R. Lobo, Ivan D'Souza and many others for your continuous efforts in progress of our City.

    First visit Kadri Park in the evening . See the mess of chaat shops. The uncleanliness of the way they wash the glass & plates. The haphazard parking. Why can't we arrange proper parking. Upgrade the petty shops into modern type food vending kiosks., that will give an excellent image of our dear home city Kudla,Maikaala, Kodial . Thinkit over please.
