Mangaluru, Mar 21: The Democratic Front of India (DYFI) on Saturday March 21 staged a protest demanding CBI enquiry into the murder of Rajesh Poojary, an auto rickshaw driver, who killed in Kalpane, Bantwal last year. The CID is still investigating the case, but so far there has been no progress, DYFI said.

The protest was organized in front of the DC's office here on Saturday March 21.

Muneer Katipalla, DYFI state president addressing the protest said, "Though the murder case of Rajesh completes one year, the CID has failed to arrest the actual culprits behind the murder. Earlier the police arrested innocents in connection with the case. Police have failed to conduct a serious probe into this matter.

"Though it has been handed over to the CID, district incharge minister failed to enquire on the status of the case. In the district, several cases were handed were to the CID but it has failed to solve those cases and provide justice to the victims," he said.

He also said that CID is ineffective in solving sensitive murder cases, and that government should dissolve the body and form an effective investigation agency.

He also alleged that state ministers from the district are 'useless' and have failed to solve the people's problems. "Instead, they are doing favours to builders and capitalists. The sand mafia is rampant under the umbrella of political influence," he alleged.

He also demanded that Rajesh Poojary murder case be handed over CBI from CID so that the real culprits brought to book.

B K Imthiyaz, district president of DYFI, also spoke on this occasion.
