Three killed in Kashmir avalanche


Jammu, March 21 (IANS): Two women and a boy were killed on Saturday after being buried under an avalanche in Jammu and Kashmir's Ramban district, police said.

"A massive snow avalanche killed three people in Banihal area of Ramban. Those killed in this tragedy include two women and a boy," said police in Ramban town, adding the avalanche hit Mahoo village burying the three under its debris.

Efforts by villagers to rescue the victims failed.

Villagers have accused the authorities of failing to launch the rescue operation in time, claiming that timely rescue efforts could have saved the victims.
