Giant wheel accident kills woman, child injured seriously

Kasargod, Mar 22: In a rare tragic accident, a woman and her child fell down from a giant wheel which resulted in the death of woman. The incident took place at  Palakunnu in Bekal.
 
Fathima (32) wife of Abbas from Bandadka Eniyadi is the person deceased. Her 11 month old child Majida has been injured seriously.
 
Th family had gone to visit the expo which had come to town. Fathima and her child sat in the giant wheel and when it was on move, they suddenly fell down to the surprise of people. 
 
The spectators and workers of the expo rushed the injured to Kasargod hospital. But as the injuries were of grave nature, Fathima was advised to be taken to a Mangaluru hospital from there. But before reaching the hospital, she breathed her last on the way.
 
The injured child is being treated in a private Kasargod hospital. Bekal police have registered the case. Expo has been closed after the incident.

    These so called expos hardly enforce any safety mechanisms. Most of the equipment would be illegal. Some of these rides are so dangerous, with hardly anything to latch on - I've been witness to a few myself. It is impossible for someone to fall of any ride, if the equipment had adhered to safety norms. It is time the organisers are arrested, in order to set an example for those literally taking people on a ride to death

    The totally forgot care herself and deeply feel her child that is the reason of death she should not take small child. Felt sad abt the incident. May her soul rest in peace

    A very unfortunate incident. Only investigation by the police will reveal the exact cause of the fall of the woman and child. Fathima, may your soul rest in eternal peace and wish a speedy recovery of Majida,the 11 month old baby.

    Never take a baby on a amusement ride.

    Amusement ride attendents should "never" allow small children or babies on rides - International Law

    surprising to see the lady taking her 11 month old baby in the giant whee. it is very dangerous for the baby. too small for it. i wonder how parents take them for this ride. i am pretty sure there were kiddy rides there.

    After installation of this wheel local authority should inspect this for safety, before it put to use.
    1. Good to install safety belts for this giant wheel chairs.
    2. No infants allow.

    Unfortunately these rides are often dangerous as their owners often travel from city to city, staying only briefly, and often not maintaining their mechanical rides. There is little or no enforcement of the most essential safety standards as local officials are unable to schedule timely inspections of the rides. The ride operators are well meaning but often very inexperienced,unqualified and underpaid. I saw such a ferris wheel in Mangalore last January and warned others around me that it looked unsafe to me. On another ride the wheel bearings groaned and sounded worn out, possibly setting up the possibility of wheel slippage and an accident. Please inspect all rides for yourself before getting on.

    May be due to the fearness women tried to come out of the Giant Wheel along with her child..while it's in the motion..

    Giant Wheel is protected from all the angles while it's on move..
    Anyhow what's happened is not good.
    Only we can blame on destiny..
    Sometimes even people die after falling up above from Bannana Tree..!!
