Beltangady, Mar 23: Kaveri (75), a resident of Kadambu in Tenkakarandooru village in the taluk, ended her life by hanging herself at her home.
Bhaskar Naik, son of Kaveri, has been serving in the military department of defence services since several years. He had been on a visit home on leave. On Sunday, he was to go back at the conclusion of his leave period. His mother, overtaken by emotion, told Bhaskar that she would commit suicide if he goes ahead with his plans to go back.
As Bhaksar had come across similar threats during his previous visits too, and as he had no other go but to join for duties, he went ahead with preparations to leave.
Kaveri committed suicide unnoticed by family members, by hanging herself. On a complaint filed by Bhaskar Naik, a case was registered in Venoor police station.
