Hyderabad, March 23 (IANS): Japanese automotive major Isuzu will start manufacturing pick-up trucks at its facility in Sri City in Andhra Pradesh by April 2016.
A delegation led by Isuzu India managing director Takashi Kikuchi met Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu here on Monday.
Isuzu has set up a manufacturing facility in Sri City in Nellore district with an initial investment of Rs.1,500 crore.
Kikuchi informed the chief minister that nearly 75 suppliers were keen to invest in Andhra Pradesh.
"We will require the government to drive ancillary industries too," the Isuzu executive said, according to a statement from the Chief Minister's Office.
Naidu told the delegation that his government - in the next cabinet meeting - will come up with a policy for ancillary industries.
The state will also identify clusters within Sri City and in other areas of the state for ancillary industries.
Naidu said he wants to make Nellore-Chennai-Tirupati the automobile hub on the lines of Tokyo-Kawasaki-Yokohama tri-cities.
