Puttur, Mar 24: In a recent instance, the Anganwadi worker of an Anganwadi centre within Kedambady gram panchayat in the taluk successfully organized a protest along with the children of the centre.

Her earlier efforts to draw the attention of the authorities towards the problems of the Anganwadi had drawn a blank.

Tyagaraje Anganwadi centre in Kedambady gram panchayat was facing water woes since since the last six months. The water scarcity at the centre, which is entirely dependent on the tap water supplied by the panchayat, had been raised at panchayat meetings and gram sabha, but nothing concrete had been done to address the issue. During the last two days, not a single drop of water was supplied, as a result of which the people there faced lot of problems.

Frustrated, Anganwadi worker, Tara J Ballal, lined up the children of the Anganwadi and marched to the panchayat office with unwashed utensils used for cooking, along with plates, glasses etc in which the children had consumed food, which were also not washed.

The children sat down inside the panchayat office, and the Anganwadi worker submitted a memorandum seeking end to the water problem at the Anganwadi centre.

President of the gram panchayat, Leelavathi Suvarna, vice president, K M Hanif, and other members, received the memorandum and promised to address the issue without delay.

The panchayat immediately took up the issue and ensured that water began to be supplied to the Anganwadi with immediate effect.

I salute you Tara J Ballal for your presence of mind to aim at the "BULL'S EYE" and in it's den too, to make them function.
Such measures should be taken up by all where Govt. officials do not function properly and do not bother to extend civic facilities which they are supposed to facilitate to the common man.
This kind of "satyagraha" will bear fruit faster than any complaints made orally or by writing letters which will be just filed or even thrown in the dust bins.
All others should take up from the lead given by her.
When the Media highlights all these, the Government is forced to act quickly.
