Sullia, Mar 24: In a tragic accident which occurred at Aramboor near here on Monday March 23, a boy moving on a bicycle lost his life after a KSRTC bus coming at considerable speed from the opposite direction knocked him down.
The deceased has been identified as Abu Tahir (11), son of Ahmed, resident of Kallumutlu here. Ahmed is an auto rickshaw driver by profession. Abu Tahir breathed his last while being taken to a hospital after suffering grave injuries in this accident.
Abu Tahir had appeared for the examination on Monday. After the examination, he had distributed chocolates to classmates. He was going in his bicycle for giving chocolate to his elder sister, who is married, at her residence. Chocolates were found to have been strewn around at the spot of the accident.
Two elder sisters of Abu Tahir are married and he was moving to the house of one of them when tragedy struck. He was the only son of the four children of his parents, and was a fifth standard student of Green View school here. He is survived by three sisters apart from parents.
The KSRTC bus in question was moving towards Mangaluru from Madikeri. There has been an increase in the traffic on this road, because of the closure of Shiradi Ghat road. Vehicles keep vying with each other, posing threat to road users.
