Mangaluru: 23 beaches in coastal districts to get facelift

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Mar 24: Minister R V Deshpande on Tuesday March 24 informed in the state legislature council that 23 beaches of the coastal districts will be developed through the tourism department of the state.

He was replying to a question raised by MLC Ivan D’Souza. Ivan had raised two questions regarding the details of development of beaches and the road junctions to be built connecting the tourist spots in the coastal districts.

Thirteen of the junction roads which connect the tourist spots have received grants from the tourism department. Out of these, work on five junction roads has begun and tender process is on for another five. Tenders will be called by the PWD and port and inland water trannsport department for the remaining three works as the grant was released on this month, the minister informed.

The beaches to be developed include Someshwar, Ullal, Suratkal, Talapady and Sultan Battery beaches in Mangaluru taluk.

The other places to be developed in the coastal twin districts include a tourist lodge at Kateel near the Durgaparameshwari temple and at Moodbidri near Jain math.

Road from Mudipu town to St Joseph Vaz church and the road from Urwa market to Sultan Battery will also be developed under the same schemes, Deshpande said.

    MakeMyDay,
Now a days, Mangaluru Beach is overcrowded and there is no scope for privacy. Besides there could be so many bird watchers to trap Love birds any time.
    Time is changed.
My best time pass (once upon a time) used to be at the beach

If you are bold enough, go and sit with your partner (girlfriend if you are not married) at dusk and justify your comments. Now day’s partners may need Bouncers or own gang members to remain safe from communal rowdies. Do not worry, one day you will be treated with the medicines invented by you.

At first please clear the 3 debris of hindu yuva sena, sri rama sena and rss to make these beaches tourism. it would be wonderful and flourish with tourists and the business in the surrounding areas would flourish without the involvement of the 3 debris. Please check.

Just don't allow people to dirty the beaches and control pollution. These face lifts are only a way for politicians to corner some funds and make money.

This is a classic example of what exactly wrong with our system. Someone took a decision to develop all our beaches and set aside some money for it. First of all, you can't just develop a beach without comprehensive local planning. Beach is not an isolated area, it's part of the local culture and community.

Instead of provisioning the money for all the beaches, Government should do a study for a single beach and develop it along with other infrastructure required for the tourists and local community. What might work in one area may not work in other places. We have to take into account the local culture, religious places and other issues. Once a beach is provided with all the facilities, the extra income generated from it will be enough to develop the next one, and we will also understand the practical issues with it. This way, we will have full facilities and also generate lot of job opportunities and business along with additional tax and service revenue to the authorities.

    Dear Jossey!

The disagrees received for your comments are of those chaddis whom you mentioned not to show their faces again in beaches. May be they don't want to live the tourist in peace & want to show their moral police act with them as well.
I know, even I'm gonna receive disagrees from the same chaddis for commenting on your behalf.

The funding for such projects will never see the light of day, thanks to the rampant & ever increasing corruption that exists in Siddhu's congress govt. So readers, don't get hopeful about these projects.

First of all let the state government set law and order right in coastal district. How the tourist will visit Mangalore and Udupi? If you have moral policing everywhere in the town? Our culture is changed, earlier we is to follow Athithi devobava but those values are reduced due to the mean mentality of uneducated goons gathered under some political and social group banner. They are protected by their young leaders aspiring political carrier. We built so many colleges, hostels, hotels and many good hospitals in the twin districts. In the past we had good revenue from these ventures. We had lot of north, south, far east students, fetch revenue to all sectors. I wish let our district administration, leaders from all party Congress, BJP, JDS,ETC,all religious leaders, intellectual public represents, builders and developers have a brain storming session to improve the living conditions. If our district divided on political and religious grounds than there is no future for developments.

Unless the communal issues solves, boys and girls allowed free to use beaches, and ban so called moral police beaches will not be attractive to anyone. I think kerala students and out of mangalore students flow has been reduced to Mangalore education centres because these issues. Eventually it will effect to Mangalore economy.
