Mangaluru, Mar 27: Based on a tip-off, police raided a party at a home stay at Maroli here late night on Thursday March 27 and detained eight boys and four girls.

It is learnt that the group of boys and girls from Bengaluru had booked the home stay and announced the party on a website.

Sources said that the group of youngsters had a party on the night of Wednesday March 25 too at the same home stay, which had continued till early hours of the morning with loud music. On Thursday night when the party went on till late, the locals informed the police and a few activists from a right-wing group also gathered.

Based on the complaint, the police raided the spot late night. The gate of the home stay was found to be locked and they had to jump over the compound. An elderly man opened the door, and the party was found to be going on in the top floor of the house, sources said.

The police personnel, including a lady officer, spoke to the youngsters for about two hours, and later, after the arrival of circle inspector Pramod, the boys and girls were taken to the police station separately.

No case has been registered. Police sources said that the youngsters were let off after questioning.

The complaint was lodged by the neighbours .good that there was no moral policeing and that there was no twists and communal Angle. As per the report the complaint was given because of nuisance created because of loud music.
All of us have to abide by the law of the land and loud music should stop at 10pm or at stipulated time.
It's time we put each one in other shoes to analyse what is right and wrong...
It implies to the neighbours, the inmates, the hosts and everyone involved to make this an issue.

I strongly protest this Police intervening in this private house.
There was lots of loud music being played and parties were held in the same vicinity Maroli neighbourhood for the past 2 to 3 years, but no one has complained to the police so far.
Even during our school, college times, there was lot of disturbances by loud music, bajans being played, there was frequent power cuts, still we have studied, grown up and passed our examinations with flying colours.
Where there is a will there is a way.
    This is/was really unwarranted.

IT IS NEITHER RSS NOR MORAL POLICING.
THE ISSUE IS COMPLAINT GIVEN BY THE NEARBY RESIDENTS FOR DISTURBANCE AT LATE NIGHT HOURS DURING EXAM DAYS.
HOMESTAY OCCUPANTS CAME FROM BANGALORE BUT NOT HOUSE MEMBERS AND THE ACT IS COMMERCIAL WITHOUT PROPER PERMITS IS FIT CASE FOR POLICE RAID. IF THEY HAVE THE PERMIT LET THEM PUT THE BOARD.
ANY UNAUTHORIZED HOMESTAYS IN THE RESIDENTIAL AREAS NEED TO BE RAIDED FREQUENTLY SO THAT CRIME RATES WILL COME DOWN SUBSTANTIALLY.

Our MP Kathil has demanded that newly sanctioned IIT for Karnataka should be set up in our DK district.
With such a pathetic mentality of moral police and khaki police no student will take admission in this new IIT if set up in DK or Udupi. So our district or Udupi are unfit for setting up any such national level education institution. Cool Dharwad or Belagavi are best of IIT.

Just to enlighten you Mr. Shenava, Manipal institutions, Regional engineering college at Suratkal and plethora of other excellent institutions in Udupi-DK districts have brought fame to the nation. Mangalore having international airport facility should be considered as a future site for the new IIT.
Only problem Mangalore is facing is Bhatkal and Karasagod centered Pakistani sponsored smuggling and anti-national activities.

Some of those institutions mentioned by you have bought fame and equal amount of shame also. These days they are known more for being a drugs/ganja hub for students.
You said "Only problem Mangalore is facing is Bhatkal and Karasagod centered Pakistani sponsored smuggling and anti-national activities"
That is the only problem? You know nothing about church attacks in mangalore since last few years or when some ANTI-NATIONAL people hoisted pakistan flag in Bijapur?

Gone are those good old days when the NITK Suratkal and Manipal Institutions were set up and attracted the attention of students from all over the country and even foreign countries.
But now this is the era of Moral policing in our Tulunadu and there is no place for broad minded students here.
Anyway what is the use of Airport for any IIT ? Students or faculty do not hop around in Planes frequently as the students of IIT are ed purely on the basis of Merit and not on the basis of capitation fees in crores which rich people pay as it is happening now in Private Medical colleges in Karnataka. Wherever there is a good Rail & Road connection & good climate is sufficient for ing the place for new IIT.

    Harsha,

You say things like Indian culture is the greatest on earth. trust me its not, simply because women are not treated equally as men.

Next, the problem with you is that you consider women as property and they dont have brains of their own to think for themselves and to do what they want.

Girls getting pregnant before 18 and condoms being sold at the wending machine isnt as bad as women being burnt or assaulted for dowry. Just check on the report of how many dowry deaths happen in india. Next also please check how many female infanticide takes place in india. Also please check about honour killings.

I can go on about the things that are wrong in our culture but then you would`nt accept it.

My question is, do the police have the right to enter any premises without any valid reason and documents!?. Right wing activists have to be controlled and not someone partying peacefully!. What is the difference if one parties in a hotel or at home stay!?. Everything seems to be ridiculous!. Police are not bothered about providing security to citizens like controlling crimes, preventing thefts, rash driving etc etc but are at the place the moment the so called right wing activists call!. Are they serving the right wing activists!?

I am not against parties at home but when our courts are telling the people not to disturb others. Now court also objected laud speakers using for religious festivities or prayer timings etc. Please do home parties but don't disturb others keeping your laud speakers in the night. Government allowed drinking liquor but after drinking if anybody disturb others, police must arrest them.

is it illegal to have a party at night? Its your wish. I don't understand why police raided this House. Govt only providing alcohol to drink why cant people drink it? Its their wish to drink and have party as long as they dont create trouble for others. Freedom is important for youth. They have money by hard work and they can enjoy it the way want. Why do we we older generation feel jealous when youngsters are having a good time?

Police didn't raid because girls and boys were having party ..They raided on COMPLAINT registered by neighbor for disturbing them at night (loud music)..People who object will realize when you don't get sleep if same thing happens in your place..

When I was in college, during holidays I visited my grandmother place..I was playing table tennis with uncle's son after lunch..(dining table was our TT table)..after ten minutes my uncle who was sleeping in the next room rushed to us shouting.."if you don't stop that bloody TT game,i will kick you out.." So now what if i live in a rented house and i am having a party in my house with my friends and relatives ... will the police still raid my house ??? ...

and who has given the powers to the right wing left wing activists to accompany the police in the raid ?
