Mangaluru, Mar 27: Karnataka governor Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala on Friday March 27 said that regional works should be translated to Hindi, and opined that strengthening Hindi as the national language will promote and boost national unity.

He was the addressing the Joint Regional and Official Language Conference of South and West Regions, organized by the department of official languages under the home ministry, at Hotel Ocean Pearl here.

Governor Vajubhai Vala said, "Everyone should have an aim in life. Those who work for others exhibit human tendencies and those who work for self project animal dispositions. How we live is important. Our knowledge should be useful for others.

"South India is a Ganga of knowledge from where eminent thinkers and scholars have emerged. These great scholars and saints have written great wroks in various languages like Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam etc and this knowledge should be utilized properly. Their works should be translated into the single language of Hindi so that the entire India can read them. Every independent nation should have a national flag and a national emblem, animal and bird, and there should also be one single language. The Indian Constitution accepts Hindi as the national language. We are not against any language, but we should show the same enthusiasm in learning Hindi as we do in learning English," he said.

"Languages may be different but the nation is one. Nation gets strengthened because of its thought, and thought is strengthened due to knowledge. Language unites knowledge from every part of the country and in India, it is Hindi that unites all knowledge. Let us strengthen Hindi, then even nation will be strengthened. There should not be fights over language," he added.

"Every state has its own language, and it should be promoted along with the national language. More than 75 percent of the Indian population can understand Hindi. We should not reject any language and love them all. This will help in boosting the unity of the nation. Hindi can unite and organize the entire country.

"Law was written in English and so we learnt English. In future if laws are written in Hindi, the future generation will learn Hindi in a better way," he added.

Snehalatha Kumari of Rajbhasha Vibhag who presided over the programme said, "This convention is to promote the use of Hindi language. Any language gets importance when peope use it more and more in their everyday lives. Hindi is an easy and effective language and popular among the people. It is not only a medium of expression but is also connected with the tradition and culture of our people, because of which we are famous in the world. Hindi language is ideologically and culturally connected with people."

She also informed that the cash award for Rajbhasha Gaurav Puraskar has been increased to support officials languages.

On the occasion, awards were given to various individuals for their contribution in popularising Hindi.

Poonam Junaid and Malai Chatterjee of Rajbhasha Vibhag, Vijaykumar of Corportation Bank and others were present.

    Few facts about hindi?
1)Hindi is a mixture of many languages such as arabic prakrit, sanskrit. 2) Hindi is not originally an indian langauge.3) there was no language known as hindi in India 1000 years ago.4) It has been indirectly imposed by the national govt through educational institutions, just as kannada has been imposed on non kannadigas in karnataka. 5)As per the constitution, all the languages mentioned in the constitution are national languages.
Now ask yourself is this hindi, Indian langauge as claimed by delhi politicians?

This programme is nothing to do with Hindi implementation in karnataka. This is basically meant for the Orgaisations which work in multi location Such as Public sector under takings & Banks where employees are tranfered all over india & the requirement of National Language is felt.
Comments made are unnecessary & Hindi as Rajbhasha is suggested by Mahathma gandhi and is approved by all states except Tamilnadu.

Thank God, Governor did not tell that all Hindi works should be translated into Kannada at Karnataka Govt's expenditure. Otherwise Karnataka govt had to translate so many Hinddi works into Kannada and push it down the throat of all Libraries forcibly by spending crores of rupees of Karnataka Tax Payers.
As every one knows, even though Governor Vala is a Gujarati he is a fanatic of Hindi and always tries to impose Hindi on Kannadigas.

I studied Hindi at high school and college as the second language where I also had to read and study the literature. I should say however that Hindi is a relatively poor language in terms of literature and especially poetry compared to Kannada not to mention Tamil.Their only advantage is the number of their illiterate population.

Not against Hindi, but we don't speak Hindi always.
Therefore fluency is not flawless as of those whose mother tongue is Hindi.
In such scenario, we become poor in communication, though not in knowledge. Whereas people who speak Hindi at home at at advantage, for they are able to communicate well whatever they are aware of.

Most of us can not speak in Hindi like the people of M.P. U.P. Bihar, Jharkhand, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, J & K, and Chattisghad etc. ?
Logical question, Why should we promote others language (not in absolute term) which put us down?

Honorable Governor, no need of Hindi to be forced, Karnataka state is perfectly functioning all right with English as Universal language, and Kannada as regional language, in our constitution it is written both Hindi & English can be used in administration, both languages are used in the Lok Sabha session, even the regional languages are used with translates.
