Five shot at in Amethi, three critical


Lucknow, March 27 (IANS): Five people including a block chief's husband were shot at in Amethi on Friday, police said.

Three people injured in the firing have been admitted to the trauma centre in Lucknow and their condition is stated to be serious.

The incident took place when Rajesh Vikram Singh, Jagdishpur block head Anjali's husband, was travelling in a car.

Bike-borne assailants suddenly opened fire on the car. Four bullets hit Rajesh, while his driver, two gunners and one more person also sustained bullet injuries.

Police said prima facie, the case appears to be that of political rivalry.

Two people injured in the incident are being treated at a medical facility in Rae Bareli.
