Boosting 'Suraksha': Udupi police launch new app to help public file complaints

Udupi, Mar 27: With a view to boost security and make police more approachable to public, the Udupi district police has launched a first-of-its-kind mobile application 'Suraksha Police' for controlling minor offenses in the district.

The app was launched by the superintendent police Annamalai on Friday March 27 at SP police station, Bannanje here.

Addressing media persons, SP Annamalai said, "Suraksha Police is now open for sharing public grievances. This mobile app will not give scope for forgery or fake accounts. Information will be kept confidential. Nearly 95% of minor cases will be solved by the end of the day, according to the priority of the complaint.

"The app was created by Sandeep Bhakta and 3 others. This app will also provide information regarding other services of the police department. Suraksha Police will provide 24x7 service to society," he said.

Vijay will be the operator of this app page.

To use the app, first download it from Google Play Store by searching for 'Suraksha Police' developed by 'Chipsy' and go through the following steps:

1. Secure log in:

a. Without log-in the user cannot use the app nor it features
b. Mobile number verification while registering the user and logging in.

2. Post complaints: User can post complaints with image proof.

3. Priority setting for complaints: User can set priorities for their complaints according to the complexity of the complaint.

The available priorities are:

a. High priority
b. Medium priority
c. Low priority


4. Complaint tracker:

a. A user can track only his/her complaints.

b. Also, user will get to know the status of the complaint through the app


5. Announcement: User will get notification in case of any announcement from the police.

6. Feedback: Feedback form will be provided to the user to improve the quality of the app


Note:

• All complaints will be confidential.
• People can directly post complaints to the superintendent of police.
• Recordable evidence from user as well as admin will be maintained.

    Integrating Zippr into this app will benefit it. In addition to the features already present in this app users will also be able to their locational pin at places they report a complaint.

    A JOB WELL BEGUN IS HALF DONE. In this case Mr. Annamalai expects to solve 95% of the relative cases. It is this kind of POSITIVE ATTITUDE on the part of a police officer indeed instills a lot of confidence in people.

    Great work by Mr. Annamalai and team, I appreciate this for app launched. By the way in udupi dist the crimes are increasing day by day. Good app to have break on crimes and may this app remain good all days with improving the app by features. One more app for breaking speed limit or set cameras on Kundapur, Udupi, Mangalore highway's to avoid accidents.
