Rajasthan CM to visit Japan April 6-10

Jaipur, March 27 (IANS): With an aim to attract investment in the state, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje will travel to Japan April 6-10, an official statement said on Friday.

"The chief minister during her visit will meet senior business and political leaders and invite them to invest in Rajasthan," the statement said.

During her five-day visit, Raje will also address business leaders in Tokyo and Kyoto.

The visit to Japan is a precursor to Resurgent Rajasthan Partnership Summit which will be held here in November.

"Japan has played a key role in the state's industrial development and by meeting business leaders in Japan, we wish to expand this relationship," the statement quoted Raje as saying.

"We also wish to invite Japan to become the partner country for the Resurgent Rajasthan summit," she added.

The summit, slated for November 19-20, will have strategic conferences, panel discussions, roundtable deliberations, presentations and one-on-one business meetings and bring together investors from all over the world for interacting with policy makers, including political leaders, government officials and local business leaders on the investment environment and opportunities in the state.

Japanese companies and Rajasthan share a special relationship, with the state the only one in the country to have a special Japanese Investment Zone in Neemrana in Alwar district, over 130 km from here.

The Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation Ltd (RIICO) has earmarked 1167 acres land at Neemrana for Japanese Zone and so far more than 45 Japanese companies, including Daikin, Nissin Brake, Mytex Polymer and Nippon Pipe, among others have invested Rs. 4,200 crore in the zone.
