Haryana to probe Gurgaon ex-chief engineer's assets


Gurgaon, March 27 (IANS): Haryana's vigilance department has ordered a probe into former chief engineer of Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) B.S. Singroha's assets and against alleged irregularities during his tenure, an official said here on Friday.

The probe was launched on the directive of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.

The director general of the vigilance has ordered inquiry of assets belonging to Singroha and his kin, the official said.

"We are investigating Singroha's assets, alleged irregularities during his tenure, allotment of projects when he was the chief engineer and other issues," a vigilance official told IANS.

Another parallel probe was also being conducted by a seven-member panel, including Gurgaon Mayor Vimal Yadav, the present chief engineer and the joint commissioner.

"We are inquiring alleged irregularities during the tenure of Singroha," Mayor Yadav told IANS.

A few months ago, Singroha was transferred to Chandigarh as the chief engineer in public health department.

The MCG is the richest civic body in Haryana with annual budget of over Rs.1,300 crore.
