Udupi, Mar 29: A car that had been stolen from near Auto Point at Kinnimulky in the town was found abandoned at Padubidri on Padubidri-Karkala road on Saturday March 28.

The car was found to have come to a stop after jumping into roadside drain in front of Vikram Wines shop there.

On Friday March 27 night, a Fiat Punto and a Hyndai i10 cars had been stolen from Kinnimulky, which falls under the jurisdiction of Malpe police station.

The policemen suspect that the car now found at Padubidri would have been left there by the thieves after its fuel got exhausted. There is also the possibility that the thieves would have left the car there as a police check post is located there.

The car's rear side number plate was found to have been detached. Finger print experts and sniffer dogs visited the spot and assisted investigators. The case was transferred to Malpe station by Padubidri police.
