Eleven killed in road mishap in Jhansi


Lucknow, March 29 (IANS): Eleven people were killed and nine others injured on Saturday night in a road mishap in Jhansi district in Uttar Pradesh, police said on Sunday.

Police said a number of pilgrims from Bhujaund village in Moth area were going in two tractor trolleys to Ratangarh Mata temple in Madhya Pradesh. On the way, some of the pilgrims got down to offer coconuts at another temple while others remained seated in the vehicles.

A speeding truck rammed into the stationary tractor trolleys parked outside the temple killing nine pilgrims on the spot. Two others succumbed in hospital, police said.
