Two killed, one injured in Delhi road accident


New Delhi, March 30 (IANS): A three-year-old girl and her grandmother were killed while the child's father was battling for his life in hospital after the motorbike they were ridng on was hit by a speeding truck, police said on Sunday.

The incident occurred in west Delhi's Paschim Vihar on Saturday around 1 p.m. when Ravi, 28, was heading towards his home and the truck hit them.

Police said the deceased - identified as Dishu and her grandmother Roopwati, 50 - came under the wheels of the truck.

Truck driver Gopal Singh was nabbed by transporter Balvinder Singh who chased him in his car for more than a kilometre from the accident spot. He was later handed over to police.

The victims, residents of west Delhi's Madipur, were initially taken to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital where the girl and her grandmother were declared dead.

The critically-injured Ravi was later referred to a private hospital.
