Kochi, March 30 (IANS): Budding Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko and four women, arrested for possessing and consuming cocaine, were granted bail by the Kerala High Court on Monday, after spending 59 days in custody.
The bail was granted soon after the Kerala Police filed the chargesheet at a lower court here. The government prosecutor opposed the bail.
While granting bail, the court asked the accused to provide details of their passports and mobile phones besides directing them to report to the police twice a week.
The accused were arrested during a midnight raid in January at a posh flat. Of the four women, one is an assistant director, two others are models and one works in Dubai.
The police later arrested a Nigerian from Goa besides two others.
Chacko began his film career as an assistant director besides playing small roles. In his last release "Ithihasa", he plays the central role.
