Himachal to restore hot water springs

Shimla, March 30 (IANS): Hot springs in Himachal Pradesh's Tattapani which got submerged this year after the construction of a dam will be restored so that people can enjoy hot baths there, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said on Monday.

A possibility would be explored to restore the hot water springs at Tattapani, 50 km from here, by boring the hot water beds through pipes, said an official statement quoting the chief minister.

Virbhadra Singh said as the reservoir at Tattapani submerged the century-old hot water springs, the authorities felt it necessary to find out an alternative site for restoring the hot baths somewhere above the water table, so that people can enjoy them.

The dam was constructed by the NTPC for the 800 MW Koldam hydroelectric power project on the Sutlej river in Bilaspur district.
