Mangaluru: Vincent Angelore elected India convenor of Daiji Dubai

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Mar 31: Well-known Konkani poet and activist Vincent Pinto Angelore was unanimously elected as the convenor of the India unit of Daiji Dubai Forum of Konkani writers for the next two years, during a review meeting of the Forum held recently.

He took over the charge from outgoing convenor Cyril G Sequeira (CGS Taccode).

Vincent, one of the senior members has been associated with the forum ever since it was established in Dubai in 1999. He relocated himself with his family three years ago and now heads the marketing department of Daijiworld Weekly.

Praveen Tauro, another senior member of the Forum, who is the marketing manager of daijiworld.com, was elected as deputy convenor, which is a newly-created position in the Forum. Besides the founding members of Daiji Dubai - Melvyn Rodrigues, Hemacharya and Walter Nandalike, other India-based members, namely CGS Taccode, Andrew D’Cunha and Vitori Karkal were present.

In the same meeting, two programmes were finalised for this year, viz, 'Konkani Kulvarak Bhet' in May and 'Aaj Ami Konkani Ulavyam' in October. These programmes are intended to inculcate love for Konkani and its rich heritage among Konkani children by motivating them to learn their mother language. Daiji Dubai Mangaluru unit has already conducted grassroot level seminars in Kinnigoli and Balkunje.

Those who wish to hold such Konkani learning workshops in their respective parishes / villages may contact Vincent Pinto Angelore (Mob 9481213196) or Praveen Tauro (9980184340) for details.
